As production of the Bugatti Veyron winds toward its eventual conclusion, Bugatti has created what is likely to be the ultimate version of its world-beating hypercar: the Super Sports. Bugatti sent its official test driver Pierre Henri Raphanel out on Volkswagen's Ehra-Lessian high-speed oval with the first Super Sports to see just what it could do. With representatives of the Guinness book of records and German Technical Inspection Agency (TÜV) on hand, Raphanel made passes around the big oval in both directions. With output bumped up from 1001 horsepower to 1200 horsepower, torque swelling to 1106 pound-feet and a revised aerodynamic kit, Raphanel managed runs of 265.9 and 269.8 mph for an average terminal velocity of 267.81 mph and a new world record for a production car. The first five production Super Sports will sport the same black and orange finish as the record car and all production models will be electronically limited to 257.9 mph to protect the tires. The Veyron Super Sports will be publicly shown for the first time at the Pebble Beach in August.

Mercedes-Benz has pulled the wraps off its latest supercar, the 2012 SLS AMG Roadster. Gone are the gullwing doors and fixed roof; in their place are traditional entry-ports and a folding cloth softtop. The car is still undergoing testing, but these shots reveal far more of the car than we've previously seen in various spy photos. A more polished version will be revealed to the world at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show this September. Before the 2012 SLS AMG Roadster hits the show circuit, it needs to spend some more time with Mercedes' engineers. The MB team has put a lot of work into this drop-top SLS, and ditching the fixed roof has required more than simply taking a sawzall to the bodywork. Though the aluminum spaceframe was originally developed with both a coupe and convertible in mind, Benz engineers added beefier side-skirts to the roadster. This allows for improvements in both crash performance and overall rigidity. Further aiding in the quest for increased strength, a cross-member that supports the dashboard was given additional bracing at both the window frame and transmission tunnel. Despite this increased rigidity, the bodyshell of the SLS AMG Roadster weighs just five pounds more than the bodyshell of the SLS AMG Coupe. Like its hardtop sibling, the roadster is capable of hitting an electronically limited top speed of 197 miles per hour. We'll admit right now that we have never been completely taken with the Aston Martin DBS. It wasn't that we didn't like it on the contrary, it's every bit the fabulous car. It's just that we found the DBS slightly... too much, in the same way you could have too much pampering or too much caviar. Even as you're finding the words to decline the next round of Beluga you're thinking, "Wow, I can't believe I'm about to give this the stiffarm, but..." It's all about the fact that the DB9, to our eyes, is just right. The DB9 needs nothing added, and as fabulous as the DBS is, it marks the addition of that not-needed something. Then the DBS Carbon Black came for a visit, so you can consider this our about-face: The DBS or rather, this DBS is our first choice in Astons, so much so that we'd only look at the others after driving this one into some shallow, oily grave.

We have to admit that we were a little disappointed when we saw the Carlsson C25 in person. The finished product doesn't seem to quite have the ultra-aggressive look of the original concept sketches. It could also be that we're not huge fans of the silver, black and orange paint scheme, nor of the brown and orange interior. In Carlsson's defense, the color combination was chosen by their customer, and we'd like to see another version in a solid color and a better choice of interior hues before we declare a verdict. Even so, the C25 is an impressive beast. Under the hood is a Carlsson-built 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12 putting out 753 horsepower and 974 lb-ft of torque, good for a conservatively listed 3.7 second sprint to 100 km/h and a top speed of just under 220 mph. To also appeal to potential clients, Carlsson has made exclusivity a top priority, limiting production to just 25 units and selling only one example in each country where they're available. As is proven by the car you see here, customers can choose from a near-limitless range of exterior and interior color combinations.

These are the first official pictures of the upcoming 2012 Ferrari 458 Spider. The new roofless prancing horse will have its release at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2011 in September. The sports car has already been shown to a selected group of interested customers in July. The pictures show a sports car which is quite similar to the renderings made by Wild-speed. The spider features a unique retractable hardtop and a drive train carried over from the coupe version. Do expect some technological improvements to keep the 458 Spider ahead of competition. First EU deliveries will be at the end of the first quarter, while UK deliveries will be at the beginning the third quarter. Exact dates for the US market are still uncertain but they are likely to follow the UK. Pricing has yet to be discussed, but expect around $ 40000 USD over the coupes base price.

Jaguar has this to say about the genesis of the C-X75 Concept, which will be unveiled live tomorrow at the Paris Motor Show: "The aim was to produce not only the most innovative but also one of the most beautiful Jaguars ever; one which hints at an exciting evolution of the marque's award-winning design language while paying homage to some of its most admired cars of years gone by." The result is the car you see above. The 2970-pound C-X75 is "a range-extended electric supercar" that does the run from zero to 62 miles per hour in 3.4 seconds. That happens courtesy of two 96-horsepower micro gas turbines that pump juice into a plug-in li-ion battery pack. That in turn powers four 195-horsepower electric motors -- one at each wheel -- for a total of 780 horsepower and 1187 pound-feet of torque. Top speed is pegged at 205 mph, and the concept can theoretically run on just its batteries for 68 miles before the twin turbines kick in and extend the range to 560 miles

KTM has unleashed today the most powerful X-Bow ever. The new R version will feature an Audi sourced engine, but this time from the S3. But while in the S3 the engine delivers 265 HP, for the X-Bow R the output has been tuned to 300 HP. The R version features a considerably lower positioning and a modified mounting of the engine will lead to even higher cornering speeds and increased driving precision. Also, depending on customers demad, KTM will offer two road legal and homologated packages: "Sport" and "Race" package, which is optimized for track use. The packages each include a vast number of completely new developed parts, which increase the performance of the car dramatically. Many of these parts will be also available separately in the PowerParts program, so all current KTM X-BOW owners will enjoy the benefit of the new developments.

Talk about a super way to kick off the 2010 Geneva Motor Show. And yes, we intend the pun. We all know and love the Koenigsegg CCX, but it's getting a bit long in the tooth, at least as far as supercars go. Introduced to the world at large at (no surprise) 2006 Geneva Motor Show, the Swedish rocket has wowed enthusiasts for the past five years. But that was then-and in the case of biofuled, 1100 horsepower monster CCXR, then was a few months ago-the Agera is now. Designed to stay ahead of the hypercar curve, the Agera can be thought of as an evolution of the CCX. If the previous Koenigsegg had any flaw, it was its slabby, just kinda... there looks. The Agera changes that, with a much more sculpted, almost pinched front end. We find it much more attractive than the CCX, but as always, judge for yourself. Other design highlights include the wheels that generate a vortex in order to better suck hot air away from the brakes. You've also got the oval doughnut taillights, the doughnut part meaning that hot air escapes the engine bay via holes in the taillights. Pretty cool, no? Of course, what we really care about is what lies under the Agera's carbon fiber skin. It's the same 4.7-liter built-in-house Koenigsegg V8 from the CCX, but with a twist. Unlike the dual-superchargers found on the CCX, the Agera's engine gets twin-turbos. Power is typically bonkers, with 910 hp at 7250 rpm. Though the real story might be the force-inducted torque. Mercedes-Benz has a hankering for cranking out powerful luxury cars all day long. The power-hungry engineers at AMG take those vehicles and play crazy games with the horsepower and torque antes. Occasionally, Mercedes and AMG let the uncorked mad scientists loose and a Black Series vehicle is born. What you're looking at above is the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Black Series coupe making an unscheduled debut, and that cackling noise you hear is the sound of a wild-eyed, frizzy-haired engineer welcoming his creation into the world. Rumor has it that this super coupe will pump out 517 horses and 472 pound-feet of torque. Thanks to a slight reduction in weight and a broader track, the C63 AMG Black Series should be a beast on the street and at the track.

Audi dropped a very pleasant surprise on us this afternoon with the long awaited announcement of the R8 GT. The Audi R8 V10 was already one of our favorite sports cars in the world (sans the R-Tronic transmission) so how could you make it better? In the immortal words of Colin Chapman, "add lightness." But in a modern sports car required to meet rigorous safety standards you can only go so far short of a complete redesign. So the R8 GT's lightened chassis benefits from a power boost to boot. The R8 GT swaps out a thinner glass windshield and polycarbonate rear windows and replaces many aluminum body panels with carbon fiber. By going over every part of the R8, Audi's engineers have carved a total of 220 pounds off the standard R8's curb weight. The 5.2-liter V10 has been bumped from 525 horsepower to 560, topping its cousin the Lamborghini Gallardo. The GT is only available with the aforementioned R-Tronic hydraulically actuated semi-automatic, and when pushed to its limit, the R8 GT is claimed to accelerate to 62 miles per hour in just 3.6 seconds and on to 124 mph in 10.6 seconds. The terminal velocity has been increased as well to 198.8 mph. Only 333 examples of the R8 GT will be built and the price in Germany is €193000. No mention is made of US availability, but we'd be surprised if Audi doesn't apportion a few for Stateside consumption.

Surely, one of the most hotly anticipated releases at the 2010 Paris Motor Show would be the Lamborghini Sesto Elemento Concept. After all, no automaker has teased the masses these last few weeks more than Lamborghini, and perhaps no single vehicle manufacturer is as beloved by the teenage boys lurking inside each one of us. That said, any new Lambo is going to have big shoes to fill, with such classics as the Miura, Countach, Diablo and Murcielago, Gallardo and Reventon each holding its well-earned place in the annals of supercardom. Austria's Königseder has unveiled a new styling and performance package for the Nissan GT-R R35. Under the hood, the company installs a revised ECU, a sport air filter, and a titanium Akrapovic exhaust. These modifications enable the twin-turbo 3.8-liter V6 engine to produce 580 PS (572 hp / 427 kW), instead of 492 PS (485 hp / 362 kW), which allows the GT-R to accelerate from 0 to 200 km/h (124 mph) in 9.8 seconds. Königseder also sells an aerodynamic body kit (with a front splitter and revised side skirts), a KW suspension, and 21-inch wheels outfitted with Yokohama Advan Sport tires.

Sport-Wheels has released their take on the Audi R8 V10 Spyder. They have chosen for OZ Ultraleggera HTL and installed 8.5×20 inch wheels with 235/30-20 Conti Sport Contact in the front and 11×20 inch wheels with 305/25-20 in the back. Additionally they have created several performance packages. Level 1 changes the motor software increasing the car's capacity to 565hp instead of the original 525hp as well as 560Nm compared to the previous 530 Nm. Level 2 changes the muffler in combination with software, specifically adjusted to the ESD. The total output becomes 600hp and 580Nm.

Switzerland's Shaston SA, an international distributor of Windows Mobile devices, has sent us several pictures of their BMW 760Li Individual concept. While details are scarce, the concept is outfitted with a Lumma body kit that features an aggressive front bumper, LED daytime running lights, aerodynamic side skirts, wheel arch extensions, and a modified rear bumper with an integrated diffuser. Other styling tweaks include carbon fiber trim (on the mirror caps, grille, side vents, and trunk) and sporty alloy wheels. Inside, we can expect a technological tour de force with a strong focus on Microsoft technology. We're not sure what to expect, but it will likely involve a new Windows Mobile-based in-car entertainment/communications system. It could be built on the Windows Phone 7 platform (which was originally called Windows Phone 7 Series - how fitting), but we won't find out until next month.
