The film »Skiing 7 Summits« features a story about a first-ever skiing expedition to the 7 highest mountains of all continents, including the first ski descent from Mt. Everest. Slovenian extreme skier Davo Karničar, the first man ever to accomplish such a feat, completed this project in December 2006. His extraordinary skiing descent from Mt. Everest in year 2000 has likewise not been repeated yet. Other skiers, including Kit DesLauriers, managed to ski only sections of the descent or were either assisted by rappelling or carried their skis on foot across the cruxes of the route.

Day two of Red Bull Cold Rush dawned blue as competitors awoke in the historic Grand Imperial Hotel in Silverton, Colorado. Built in 1884, the "GI," as locals call it, served as Silverton's social hub for all the gold and silver miners that descended on the town around the same time. Now the GI is the hub for Red Bull Cold Rush and its opulently decorated rooms complete with creaky wood floors and thin walls means when one person gets up in the morning, everyone else is soon to follow. To achieve this i am using more inside ski lead and hip counter than necessary as this makes the rolling of the knees easier. Once the student realizes that the skis turn all by themselves these things are reduced to the amount necessary. Instead of getting the student to edge by inclination - "leaning in" i stress the fundamental basic position. Lengths: 162, 172, 182 Shape: 142-115-139 THE DEVELOPMENT STORY BY ERIC: The art on the Bacon is an acrylic on wood painting of a massive color wheel and a tree with roots growing below. I won't go into why I painted those, but believe me, it's deep. The concept was for the Sir Francis Bacon to ride well in all conditions, something I could take up any day and not be disappointed. The Engineering this year we added Early Rise in the tip and tail which dramatically helped it float without having to shift your weight. The early taper was critical in eliminating drag and hooking tips and tails in powder, as well as helping the tip and tail sit deeper in the pow (depending on which direction you are going). The bacon is the most versatile ski in my line, with a large waist, and a soft but very stable, symmetrical flex, making it easy to ride in the park, all over the mountain and in pow. Check out the Nimbus videos to get a better idea of the way these skis were designed to be ridden.
