Fin Whale butchered at Raghly, Sligo, Ireland. (Time lapse)
On the 28th of November 2011 a dead Fin Whale was washed up on Ardtermon Strand near Raghly in Sligo, Ireland. The whale was probably 2 to 3 years old. Some local people organised a project to preserve the skeleton. On December 10th, the Whale was moved to Raghly Harbour. 5 butchers from Slovakia and Brazil got to work dissecting the animal as 2 PHD students from UCG, who are studying Fin Whales, removed and cataloged all of the bones. The bones will be treated over the next year and finally rebuilt into a skeleton to be put on public display. This video is a partial time lapse of the event. Operation Transformation SLIGO walk 14th January 2012
While out walking along the Garavogue River in Sligo Town today, we met hundreds of Sligo locals taking part in an RTE television programme called Operation Transformation. Operation Transformation is a 7 week Health and fitness television programme running on RTE. As part of the show, a 4km walk was designed to encourage its audiences throughout Ireland to begin 2012 on a healthy footing and the Sligo locals rose to the challenge with a spring in their step and a SMILE. It was both FANTASTIC and INSPIRING to watch those take part and we wish to send them all our POSITIVE thoughts and ADMIRATION on their journey ahead.

Chasing the Sligo timber
A short series of clips relating to the Irish Railways Sligo timber traffic, now another lost flow. The video was recorded in the final year of operations at various points from Sligo itself towards Dublin. On this particular day, General Motors 071 class No. 074 was in charge of proceedings. The loaded train had been divided at the bottom of the climb from the old rail served harbour before being brought up to the station in two portions due to poor rail conditions. The first scene sees the first portion arriving at the top of the incline, then being propelled into the station. Shortly afterwards 074 returns to collect the second half, then all marshalled together the train leaves Sligo. Later in the journey east of Longford the ensemble is halted on the steep climb by the non appearance of a crossing keeper ... the train takes some re-starting on the wet rails when he finally arrives about an hour later!

Manorhamilton, County Leitrim to Sligo
A lovely drive from Manorhamilton in County Leitrim to Sligo, Ireland. It was taken on board a BMW R1200GS with a Kodak ZX1 pocket camcorder on a suction mount. The mount does give a little movement but most of this can be taken out by software when editing. The smaller picture is from a keychain spy camera from ebay at less that £5. This is a lovely part of the country so enjoy.
