This was something I wanted to do when I was still in high school. Sadly we didn't have the time or the money to get this done. Plus is was really hard getting the information out there. This is more or less a display of my trailer making skills when I have things to work with and motivation. So enjoy!
Betty's Watermelon-Raspberry Slushie
In this video, Betty demonstrates how to make a Watermelon-Raspberry Slushie. This is a refreshing low-calorie drink to enjoy on those last hot days of summer! Ingredients (for 2 medium-sized slushies): 1/8 section of medium-sized round, seedless watermelon, cut into chunks and frozen (Remove the rind, and, if your watermelon has seeds, remove the seeds before freezing.) 6-oz. package red raspberries, washed, dried with paper towel, and frozen fresh raspberries and mint leaves for garnish Place frozen watermelon chunks in blender. Turn blender to "liquefy" and blend until watermelon is fairly smooth, but still a little chunky. Pour the watermelon slush about 2/3 of the way up in 2 dessert glasses. Pour any leftover watermelon slush into a pitcher for replenishing your drink later. Now put 6 ounces of frozen red raspberries in the blender. Blend until the raspberries are the consistency you want. You may want to leave them a little chunky to have a distinct two-layer drink, but you need the blended the raspberries and watermelon pieces small enough to drink with a straw. Gently pour the raspberry slush on top of the watermelon slush, filling the remaining third of each dessert glass. You may keep the two layers separate, but that is not necessary. Use a cocktail toothpick to put a couple of fresh raspberries on top of the completed drink. Add a little fresh mint. Provide a smoothie straw, and perhaps a long teaspoon. Betty's Fruit and Lemonade Slushie
In this video, Betty demonstrates how to make a Fruit and Lemonade Slushie. The lemonade is sugar-free (if you desire), and the fruit may be varied to suit your taste. Ingredients (for 1 large slushie): ¼ cup cold lemon juice (I used Realemon, which is 100% lemon juice from concentrate.) ¼ cup cold water ½ cup sugar or sugar substitute (I used Stevia.) 2 cups cold water about 2 cups of frozen fruit, as desired (I used one sliced banana and an equal amount of halved strawberries and an equal amount of blackberries—all frozen in pieces, for about 6 hours or longer.) Make concentrated lemonade syrup by combining ½ cup lemon juice, ¼ cup water, and ½ cup sugar or sugar substitute. You may refrigerate this and use it to make lemonade by the glass by just adding 2 or 3 tablespoonfuls to ice and cold water, to taste. For making the Fruit and Lemonade Slushie, make lemonade by adding all of the concentrated lemonade syrup to 2 cups of cold water and set aside. Place frozen banana slices, frozen strawberry halves, and frozen blackberries in a blender. Add 1 cup of prepared lemonade. With the lid on the blender, pulse the frozen fruits and lemonade until the mixture is thick and smooth. If you like it thinner, just blend in more lemonade. You will need to use a spatula to loosen the fruit and lemonade mix a few times during the blending process.
