Microphone Test Shure SM57 Mic Tutorial

www.myhollywoodstar.com The Shure SM57 is known as one of the most rugged and reliable microphones ever invented. It probably is used by more professional musicians and recording studios than any other mic. It is excellent for background vocals. The singer should keep the mic 3 to 12 inches from the lips when singing. The SM57 is great for using as a microphone for almost any musical instrument. It does not have an on off switch. There is a sister mic to the SM57 which is the Shure SM58 which is considered better for use as a lead vocal microphone. It is the same price. Be on the lookout for fake lookalike copies of microphones which are not actual Shure mics. There are YouTube videos which show you how to tell the difference between real and fake Shure mics.

Live video w/Zoom H4 & Shure SM57 - "Lost in You" original song

This is an original song I wrote, called "Lost In You", that I recorded live in front of the camera using a Zoom H4 "Handy Recorder" and a Shure SM57 mic. The bass guitar was added later in the studio, as I didn't have a bass on hand when I filmed/recorded this. You can download a free MP3 of this song at www.shaneanthony.net - - - - - - - - - - Here are the lyrics Hold on to me, never let me go I melt when You draw near to me You take me away, to another place It seems from here I'm out of time and space To a place where I am Yours, and You are mine I find shelter in Your arms so divine I'm resting in You, I'm resting in You You take me to another place, and I'm already gone I'm lost in You, You're my hiding place I'm in love with You, You take my breath away There are no words to say, just how I feel about You I get in lost in You The Glorious Son, tells the winter it's through Another season fades away for something new And all that now is, becomes what was And I am found in awe at what Youve done You're the wind beneath my wings, You lift me high And Your mercy touches every morning sky I'm resting in You, I'm resting in You You take me to another place, and I'm already gone I'm lost in You, You're my hiding place I'm in love with You, You take my breath away There are no words to say, just how I feel about You I get in lost in You I know You are, that's where I must be I'm leaping over the edge, leaving all this behind, falling heart first for You Something inside of ...

Bugera 333 EL34's + SM57

A quick demo of the Bugera 333 amp with a Marshall 1960BV (V30's) recorded with an SM57. Hey folks, thought id stick this up as there doesn't seem to be many clips off the 333 up here, especially not much with EL34's in them. Read below for a little intro as well as some settings. Upon recieving this amp it sucked, so i retubed it with Ruby Tubes EL34's and well, now, all i can say is it friggin rocks. Take a listen and see for yourself. I recorded this with the trusty old Shure SM57. Position was facing just off the centre of cone, about 3 feet back to allow some of the room tone come through. (My room sounds absolutely amazing for such a small space :D) Settings and Signal Chain Below. Clean: Guitar (Ibanez RG370DX) - Compressor - Chorus - Amp. (Delay in loop) Volume - 4 Treble - 8 Mid - 6 Bass - 1 Lead Channel: Guitar - Behringer Tube Overdrive (used as tightener) - Amp. (Delay in loop for the lead) Volume - 4 Treble - 4 Mid - 7 Bass - 6 Gain - 3.5 (Yes....3.5!!) Master Volume at 2 due to being recorded at night :(( (Apologies for sloppy playing...) If anyone is looking for some serious tone, this amp delivers!! Cheers all for watching, and feel free to comment.

Audix i5 Takes On The Shure SM57 In A Microphone Shootout

The Shure SM57 has long been the industry standard when it comes to dynamic instrument microphones. Things got a little bit crazy in Gearwire Studio when the Audix i5 arrived with massive enough cajones to refer to the SM57 as a "paper champion" before challenging the notorious mic to "put its money where its cartridge is" in a Gearwire shootout. Shure SM57 Dynamic Microphone Review

my website: www.technologyreviewsite.com This is a short review of one of the most popular instrumental microphones from Shure - the SM57. This video was recorded using the Canon EOS 550d. Appologies for - The bad lighting making the video look yellow - My "P's" hitting the microphone - No audio samples (WILL BE UP VERY SOON) - Overpowering background music (which I beatboxed by the way!!) If you can I'd really appreciate it if you could subscribe as it really helps me out with getting exposure and getting more gadgets in order to review for you consumers out there :) Thank you.

Shure SM57 vs. Nady SP-5 - Snare Test

I bought a few Nady SP-5's a long time ago when that was all I could afford. Since then I've bought a few Shure SM57's and the SP-5's sat on the shelf. Today, I remembered how awesome I thought the SP-5 was for the price ($10), so I decided to do a little comparison on a snare drum. I put the mics as close to the same positions and angles as possible. My favorite is an SM57 on top and a SP-5 on bottom. What's yours?

Blue Encore 100 Vs. Shure SM57 On A Marshall 4x12

After a few months of searching, we finally located the footage from the second half of our Blue Encore 100 v Shure SM58 et al shootout. Having already proved its mettle against the venerable SM58 (and the Audix OM2) we pit the Encore 100 against an SM57 to see which yielded the better tones on a cranked half-stack. The Cabinet: a Marshall 1960BX 4x12 loaded with Celestion Gneenbacks. The Amplifier: a Peavey 6505+ all-tube 100-watter. The ref: your very own Owen O'Malley, who remains as biased as ever. He likes the Blue Encore 100 (probably because it's shiny), but that doesn't mean his is the final judgment. Watch this Gearwire mic shootout and make your own call.

Dynamic Microphone Testing on Vocals and Harmonica (Acoustic). SM58, e835,SM57,565SD and 55SH

I'm doing a test between all the 5 dynamic mics that I own: Shure SM58, Sennheiser e835, Shure SM57, Shure 565SD and Shure 55SH. I'm jamming the same song, All my love in vain by Sonny Boy Williamson II on each take for different mics to keep things constant. I'm also trying to keep my playing consistent throughout. The preamp used was a Samson S Mix, I also use the Zoom H2 as an audio interface to the computer through USB. The harmonica was a Suzuki Manji, Key of C No EQ used, no compression, no effects, no post processing, just straight in and straight out. I did not wear headphones or have sound on my desktop speakers to feed back to me during the recording, so I rely on only the acoustic sound from my voice and harp. I would have no idea how it sounded like until I played it back from the computer. This way I wouldn't be affected by the characteristics of the mic and physically adjust my playing/singing.

Snare Drum Mic Shootout - Naiant XO vs. Shure SM57 vs. Audix i5

Decided to pick up my second Naiant mic, the new XO. Supposed to work great on close miking drums. Wanted to get 3 and start close miking my toms, but got one to test things with, and put it on my snare. Never used an omni mic to close mic a drum before. Per request, the clip starts with just the snare mic solo'ed. This is followed by a groove without and with music, and no effects on the snare track, and ends with the same clips with EQ and compression on the snare track. Some people asked about my prior bass drum shootout why the mics aren't positioned in the same spot, like in most shootouts. My goal wasn't to do a rigorous scientific study to find out which mic sounded best at each particular position (that and I didn't want to damage my most expensive mic, which I just bought, in front of the soundhole)....my goal was to see which mic sounded the best at the spot that each mic sounded best at. You'll notice that especially on this clip. I used an AT 4047 on bass drum, and two RODE NT2-a's for overheads. The bass guitar and keyboards (all played by me) are Direct Injected. I used UAD Pultec-Pro and UAD 1176 on the snare drum channel for effects, in addition to the freeware NoName EQ for a high-pass filter. The music is a short arrangement from a musical I am currently writing (although I could have used a bit more practice on the lead keyboard part). www.imaginative-studios.com

Shure SM57 and SM58 Comparison

Made for www.recording-engineers.com - Upcoming Audio recording forum. We decided to compare ther Shure SM57 and 58 microphones on acoustic guitar. We made the test conditions as fair as possible and no EQ, compression or other effects were added. The same gain levels were used and the same microphone positions were utilised. The clips are (in order): -SM57 directly in front of the sound hole (0:19) -Sm58 directly in front of the sound hole (0:49) -SM57 in front of the sound hole with SM58 on pointed at the 8th fret of the neck, the levels were adjusted to make them equal in volume. (1:19) -SM58 in front of the sound hole with SM57 on pointed at the 8th fret of the neck, the levels were adjusted to make them equal in volume. (1:49) We personally preferred the last recording as it produced a more full tone with a nice top end sparkle. The others all sounded a little thin, dry and generally less pleasing. With a little bit of time spent adjusting the microphone positions, adding some reverb, EQ and and a better guitar, we think that that it could be turned into a very pleasurable sounding guitar tone. The guitar used was a cheap, £50 Falcon FG100N acoustic guitar It's worth noting that the internals of these microphones are identicle, the shape is slightly different but the real difference lies in the grills. Either microphone can be made to sound similar to the other, regardless we thought it'd be a useful comparison for first time microphone buyers. Cheers for watching ...

Gould - Avenged Sevenfold - Almost Easy (drum cover)

This is a drum cover of my favorite band A7X, the song "Almost Easy" from the album "Avenged Sevenfold" Sorry about the video quality is not good, I recorded it by a digital camera only. About the mic picking, I use Samson 7Kit package and a Shure SM57 beta for the snare drum. That is a rough mixing, I am still a beginner to mix drum. The most difficult part for me is the sound of the kick drum. There is more "attack" from Rev, I like it a lot.
