A roundtable discussion that celebrates the 40th anniversary of the Ethnic Studies movement and its impact on scholarship at the Smithsonian. Adopting a lively talk show format moderated by Dr. Richard Kurin, Under Secretary for History, Art and Culture, this program features the perspectives of Smithsonian colleagues who were instrumental in bringing culturally diverse scholarship to the Smithsonian. The program will be introduced by Dr. G. Wayne Clough, Secretary of the Smithsonian, and will feature a brief overview of the Ethnic Studies movement by Dr. Juanita Tamayo Lott, who was instrumental in its formation.
