Ook de Europese top van C&A vierde donderdag feest in Sneek. De landelijke directeuren van de Europese C&A-vestigingen kwamen naar Sneek om te herdenken dat August und Clemens Brenninkmeijer in 1841 als handelaren in fijne stoffen naar Sneek kwamen. Om 21:06 uur werd de brandweer gealarmeerd voor een woningbrand aan de Jonkvrouw. Met een tankautospuit en een hoogwerker rukte de brandweer uit. Het sein 'Middel-brand' werd om 21:09 uur gegeven waarop er een 2e tankautospuit naar het adres ging. Ter plaatse kwam er al veel rook uit het raam van de dakkapel. Meteen werd de hoogwerker ingesteld om vanaf boven bluswerkzaamheden te verrichten. Ondertussen sloegen de vlammen uit het raam. Zowel aan de voorzijde, de bovenzijde en achterzijde van de woning werd de brand geblust. Na klein uur was de brand onder controle

Tot dinsdag regeert Prins Douwe de Eerste in Sneek. Sneek heet Drabbelterp in deze carnavalstijd. Zaterdagmorgen om elluf minuten over elluf overhandigde burgemeester Hayo Apotheker de sleutels van de stad aan Prins Douwe. Bij de ontvangst op het stadhuis werd aan de vrijwilligers van voetbalclub Wit Zwart de carnavals-ereprijs, de Aggema-bokaal, toegekend. En daarna barstte het feest los met de grote carnavalsoptocht door Sneek.

Snitteren, het twitteren in het Snekers, begint een hit (pardon Snit) te worden. Het woord Snitter of Snitteren kun je eigenlijk overal gebruiken net als bijvoorbeeld Smurf of Smurfen. Ondernemers in Sneek spelen daar al slim op in met Snitteren, het twitteren in het Snekers. En op 13 november komt Snitterklaas aan. Vrijdagmorgen werd op de Marktstraat het T-shirt van de Snitteraars gelanceerd met de tekst Ik Snitter! Dou ok? Het shirt worden verkocht ten bate van het gehandicapten zeilen. Henk van der Veer en Wopke van Solkema over het snitteren. Inmiddels zijn er al geruchten over een complete kledinglijn voor Snitteraars. Wie goed op de variatie aan schoenen van de Snitteraars lette, realiseerde zich dat binnenkort ook de schoenhandel zal inspelen op de nieuwe Snit met Waterpoort-Sneakers: Sneekers dus.

Donderdag werkte de Canadese ambulanceverpleegkundige Joel Visser een dagje mee op 1 van de in Sneek gestationeerde ambulances van Ambulancezorg Fryslân. Visser is Primary Care Paramedic in Durham, in de buurt van Ontario. Dinsdag kwam Visser aan in Nederland, woensdag ging hij meteen mee naar de Open Nederlandse Ambulancewedstrijden in Harderwijk. En donderdag was hij de meewerkende gast van Ambulancezorg Fryslân. Op die manier krijgt Joel Visser deze week een goed beeld van hoe ambulancezorg in Friesland en Nederland geregeld is. Mazda Shinari Concept debuts new face of the brand in style! Looking at the exterior, it's easy to tell that the Shinari shares little in common with Mazda's recent designs, although like almost every sedan built today, it has similarities to vehicles from other brands. It's almost as if the Aston Martin Rapide and a Mazda RX-8 cued up some Barry White, enjoyed a romantic evening and the Shinari came out nine months later. That's obviously a compliment, as the Rapide is a stunningly beautiful car and the RX-8 -- even this far into its lifecycle -- is still a looker. However, the Shinari has a much more complicated design, with more intersecting lines and a surface area that's constantly moving and changing depending on the lighting. While the exterior is certainly a departure from previous designs, the interior is perhaps the most surprising aspect of the Shinari. Easily the most attractive and stylish interior we've seen in a Mazda (concept or not), it's swathed in authentic aluminum trim, leather-covered surfaces and double stitching at nearly every turn and twist. We're again drawn to the Aston Martin Rapide comparison, especially with the design of the deep rear bucket seats. The gauges, modeled after popular watch designs, up the class quotient and the massive glass roof helps make the interior feel open and airy.
