Cricket Video - South Africa Win Incredible First Test Match - Cricket World TV

A cricket video for Cricket World TV about the latest cricket news from www.cricketworld.com looking at South Africa's remarkable come-from-behind eight-wicket win over Australia in the first Test in Cape Town. A host of records were broken during the game, which saw both sides dismissed for under 100 runs - Australia managing just 47 and South Africa 96 - and debutant Vernon Philander taking eight wickets to carry home the man of the match award. Shane Watson also took a five-wicket haul and Michael Clarke scored an outstanding century but their efforts were in vain and after the match, Clarke described Australia's batting as 'disgraceful' and their shot selection as 'horrendous'. Centuries from Graeme Smith and Hashim Amla on the final day helped South Africa go 1-0 up in the two-match series. Australia vs South Africa has a habit of producing exciting matches, from the 438 world record ODI in 2006 to South Africa's chase of 414 to win in Perth in 2008. Cricket Video - India Win The Series, Kallis Passes 12000 Runs - Cricket World TV

A cricket video for Cricket World TV about the latest cricket news from www.cricketworld.com looking at India beating the West Indies in the second Test and Jacques Kallis becoming the fourth man to reach 12000 Test runs. Centuries from Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman and Mahendra Singh Dhoni put India in a commanding position of the second Test at Eden Gardens in Kolkata before the West Indies, despite a valiant attempt from Darren Bravo and Marlon Samuels, were comprehensively defeated. At the ground where he scored a masterful 281 against Australia in 2001, Laxman made 176 not out while Dravid looked to be at his best as he became the leading Test run-scorer of the year in making 119. Dhoni scored a century as brilliant as the one he achieved in the 2011 World Cup final, making 144 which included five sixes and plenty of his renowned helicoptor shots. Bravo, who is rapidly collecting comparisons with the great Brian Lara - to whom he is related - scored a masterful 136 but his effort proved to be in vain while Samuels made his first genuine contribution with the bat since his return from a ban for match-fixing. Meanwhile, Jacques Kallis moved into fourth place on the all-time Test run-scoring list behind Tendulkar, Dravid and Ricky Ponting with his 55th half-century as the second Test between South Africa and Australia got underway in Johannesburg. He overtook Lara by hitting 54 in just 41 balls in a fine innings at The Wanderers as South Africa look to seal a rare series win ...

Waisale Serevi - Sevens Rugby Legend - Career

"Waisale Serevi is widely acknowledged to be the finest Sevens player of all time. Serevi made his Sevens debut at Hong Kong in 1989 and played at the inaugural Rugby World Cup Sevens in 1993. While his Fiji side were unable to claim the Melrose Cup on this occasion, in 1997 and 2005 Serevi was on hand to help them to the title. Fiji are currently the only side to win the tournament twice, and under Serevi's coaching guidance they won their first IRB Sevens World Series in 2006. This was the first time the tournament had not been won by New Zealand, and was fitting testament to Serevi's influence."

Zinzan Brooke drop goal '96

Zinzan Brooke once again slotted an important kick in South Africa. This time though, it sealed the fate of the Springboks as the 3 points extended the All Blacks' lead in Pretoria, thus securing the historic series win of 1996. The win was significant in that it was not only revenge for their loss to the Boks in the previous year's World Cup, but it was the first time the All Blacks had won a Test series in South Africa. Inspirational leader Sean Fitzpatrick even went as far to say that he rated this series win higher than the 1987 World Cup victory. The week before the Loftus Versfeld meeting, the All Blacks had beaten the Springboks 23-19, setting up the game in Pretoria to be a classic, with a win for New Zealand resulting in a series victory. Despite the Springboks scoring an early try, the All Blacks led at halftime by 21-11. Late in the game the score was 30-26 when Zinzan Brooke set up in mid-field and calmly slotted a drop-goal for a 33-26 lead. Despite intense pressure for the rest of the match, the All Black defence held firm and the first series win in South Africa was achieved to the delight of the New Zealand players and the nation. It was a special moment in the history of rugby, and one that went a long way to cementing Zinzan's reputation as one of the best number 8's to ever grace the pitch. He scored 17 test tries, a record for a forward, and slotted three drop goals, making him a giant of the game and a legend both on and off the pitch.

All Blacks Tri Nations History Part 1/6

Tri Nations: the opening tournament of 1996 was dominated by the All Blacks who stormed to victory undefeated, leaving the Springboks and the Wallabies with just one win each—against each other. The opening exchange was between New Zealand and Australia, New Zealand winning by over 40 points and, although they won all four of their games, the later matches were a lot closer in their scorelines. The launch of the Tri Nations was considered a huge success.[2] A similar story unfolded the following year, 1997. The All Blacks maintained their dominance over the new competition and again went undefeated. Australia and South Africa found themselves in similar position again with just one win each. The 1998 series was something of a turnaround for all nations with South Africa winning the tournament and Australia finishing second. Two-time winner New Zealand finished at the bottom with no wins. In the following tournament in 1999 New Zealand again became Tri Nations champions and defending champions South Africa fell to the bottom. Australia, the World Champions at the time, won their first Tri Nations championship in 2000. That tournament is also notable for Australia's opening match against New Zealand at Stadium Australia where 109874 spectators attended.[4] Jonah Lomu scored a try in injury time to grab the win for the All Blacks. The game was hailed as one of the greatest ever,[4] and the end competition thought by some to be the best Tri Nations ever at the time.[5 ...

Rugby Test Match 2009 (1st) - South Africa vs. British & Irish Lions

Test 1 - Kings Park, Durban - June 20, 2009. The British and Irish Lions gave themselves a mountain to climb in their three-match series with South Africa after the world champions survived a stirring second-half comeback to win a nail-biting opening Test in Durban. An early try from captain John Smit and four penalties - three from Ruan Pienaar, the other from Frans Steyn - saw the Springboks take a commanding 19-7 half-time lead. Tom Croft had gone over for the Lions, who lost Lee Byrne to injury, and the hosts were cruising when flanker Heinrich Brussow crossed early on the resumption. But from 26-7 down, the Lions rallied and a second try from Croft with 12 minutes left galvanised the tourists. Scrum-half Mike Phillips slashed over with five minutes remaining, Stephen Jones converting both to set up a grandstand finish. But although the Lions continued to press in the frantic closing moments, the rattled Boks hung on to claim victory.

AB de Villiers: South Africa's Young Talented Batsmen and Athletic Fielder

a video for ab de villiers south Africa's young talented batsmen and athletic fielder. Few Test debutants can have been asked to play so many roles in such a short space of time as AB de Villiers, and fewer still can have risen to the challenge with such alacrity that, at the tender age of 21, he was already being regarded as the future of South African cricket. A product of Afrikaans Hoer Seunsskool in Pretoria, de Villiers was born to be a sportsman - although such was his natural talent, tennis, golf, cricket or rugby could have been his calling. Cricket won out, however, and after a prodigious spell in the South Africa Under-19 team, he made his debut for Titans in 2003-04, racking up five half-centuries in his 438 runs. He earned his call-up for the first Test against England the following season, and after a composed debut as an opening batsman, he was handed the wicketkeeping gloves for the second Test in Durban, which he helped save with a maiden Test half-century from No. 7. By the end of the series, however, he was back at the top of the order, and after falling eight runs short of a deserved century in the first innings at Centurion, he made instant amends second-time around. His development continued at a rate of knots in the Caribbean, where he helped seal the series with a wonderful 178 at Bridgetown. On South Africa's tour of Australia at the end of 2005 he managed just 152 runs at 25.33 - despite playing Shane Warne well - and was sent home ahead of the ...

At 16 years of age, Paine became the youngest-ever contracted player in Australian Domestic Cricket when he received a basic $AU10,000 rookie contract with Tasmania. In December 2003, he was announced captain of the Australian Under-19 team for the 2004 World Cup in Bangladesh, played in February and March 2004. Relieved of wicket-keeping duties, Paine scored 142 runs at an average of 23.66 and took two catches, along with taking seven wickets at an average of 22.28 in eight matches. However, Australia lost the Under-19 Plate Championship final to Bangladesh. Paine made his Tasmanian debut as solely an opening batsman in November 2005, during an ING Cup one-day match against Western Australia in Perth, scoring 28 from 44 balls. His first class debut came shortly after in December when Tasmania played South Australia in Hobart in a Pura Cup fixture. He made his maiden century in his first season, scoring 111 in the ING Cup. Lions Tour 2009

Lions Try's, part 1. Some of the greatest rugby tries you may have ever seen. *The Lions are a team that gets selected every four years to either go to Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa. This year, 2009 the Lions went to South Africa, and everyone was doubting the Lions. After an un-defeated streak against the club teams around SA, lions tasted their first defeat 21-26 in pretoria, south africa. It was a close game, but a win is a win, and a loss is a loss. Then, they played the emerging boks, and drew. After that, they played SA again, this time losing, but only by 3 points (25-28.) The series was lost. The following week, Lions put on a brilliant performance, and beat South Africa 9-28. Whilst the lions lost the series, they ended on a high.
