How well does the Spetsnaz Machete saw through wood? Watch and see. This is the Тайга used by the Russian Special Forces. It has a saw back, hollow handle, bone cutting blade, digging edge, push awl and more. The handle is bakelite and the blade is made of carbon steel. They can be used as a grappling hook, machete, wood chopper, bone cutter, digging tool, trig calculator, protractor, measuring device, saw, leather awl-and the most deadly of applications-as a slasher weapon by an operator trained in Systema, or the System. It's sort of like a Woodsman's Pal, or a Tom Brown Tracker survival knife. The hollow handle could be used to store emergency items like a fishing kit, matches, a compass, needles, water purification tablets, a lighter, paracord and whatever else you might need in a survival situation. Alexander Kisten is a 1984 graduate from the Ryazan Airborne Command School. Upon graduation, he served in a Spetsnaz Brigade of the GRU. From 1985 to 1987 he participated in combat operations in Afghanistan. There he held the post of Group Commander, and later, Company Commander. As a result of combat operations, Alexander was awarded the Order of the Red Star and Red Banner. In 1991 Alexander Kisten was invited to serve in the Belarusian Spets Gruppa Alpha. In 1995, he retired from military service and began working in the security services of commercial companies.
