This is my steampunk record player. Details available here: www.asciimation.co.nz This is a small steam engine I made, mainly from bits of junk around my garage, playing a Sex Pistols punk LP. The engine speed is controlled by a throttle being driven from a servo controlled by an Arduino. The RPMs are measured by a coil detecting the passing of six magnets in the edge of the platter and the approximate revs are displayed on an analogue meter. I am using the PID controller library to do the work out how to control the servo based on the input speed. The safety valve is making the whistling noise at the start as steam pressure is built up. A small flick of the platter will start the engine and then the Arduino takes over trying to maintain 33 1/3 RPM. At the end the meths burner runs out of fuel so the steam pressure, and therefore the speed, drops. You can see the Arduino trying to throttle up to maintain the speed right at the end.

Trying to cover a bunch of fun stuff in this video! I discovered Lisa Pavelka's polymer clay stamps, especially the steampunk ones, and ohmigoodness! WHAT FUN! We now carry them at www.bsueboutiques.com; watch this video and I'll attempt to show you how they work with clay to make cute pendants and charms. I will also show you how to make the clay POP once it's baked, with Gilder's Paste. I will also show you further options using VIVA Precious Metal Paints INSTEAD of Gilder's Paste, over the clay. I also demonstrate applying Gilder's to polymer clay beads while using the easy-peasy plastic rack I made in an earlier video. It's a look I really love and admire. This is just for fun for a quick easy dress up, theme party or Halloween on a budget. I did this look without sticking stuff to my face because I know a lot of people have breakouts and stuff and we don't really want to irritate our skin too much so a little makeup is better than eyelash glue and other stuff. You can always stick real stuff to your face if you want to for a short time like little nuts and bolts. Steampunk makeup varies a lot and sometimes has a 'dirty' appearance, some like dark makeup with dark lips and others go for a more 'bare' look so I went for darker eyes with a little interest in that area.
