Steven C. Hayes & Dennis Tirch: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
This is an interview with Steven C. Hayes, Ph.D., Foundation Professor of Psychology at the University of Nevada. He is an author of 34 books and 475 scientific articles, and has received a number of awards including the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies. His self-help book Get Out of Your Mind and Into Your Life for a time was the best selling self-help book in the country. The discussion is lead by Dennis Tirch, Ph.D., is the Founder and Director of The Center for Mindfulness and Compassion Focused Cognitive and Behavioral Therapy. He is a New York State licensed psychologist, Diplomat and Fellow of The Academy of Cognitive Therapy, and the Associate Director of the American Institute for Cognitive Therapy (AICT) in Manhattan. Steve and Dennis discuss the current cutting edge changes that are taking place in the Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) community, and implications for practicing therapists. We intend this to be the first in a series of short videos to people with an avid interest in ACT. Over the next year, Steve will be giving several workshops around the country, where people who'd like to spend a couple of days with him will be able to practice these and many other fascinating ideas and interventions that are changing the face of modern therapy.

This song means a lot to me because I lost my first daughter in October of 08 and the dark days that followed were seemingly unbearable, but Jesus remained with me every step of the way. Taking a step away from the Yiruma songs since I'm working on some new songs from the official song books I've orderd in the mail :)... My last written composition that I wrote 3 years ago, about the same time I finished writing Nostalgic Sunset. This song has a love theme to it and was inspired by the bombardment of soap opera themes I heard when on vacation to the Philippines...totally annoying lol. So I decided to try to write a song that had love theme to it and appealing to the ear, but nothing to cliche or cheesy. So I'm pleased to share with you my work. Hope you enjoy it as much as I have writing/performing it.

The Girl from Boracay-Steven C.
Continuing with the new set of vids showcasing my music, here's another one I've personally written. The idea for this song came about when I was experimenting with different styles of jazz music, and decided to play around with the Bossa Nova since it wuz upbeat, lively, and moving. This style gave me a chance to write a song that wuz different from what I usually write in terms of rhythm, technique, sounds, and speed. This song is by far one of the hardest to play out of all the songs I've written due to the rhythms and techniques involved. After completing the song, I had trouble finding a title. Nothing really hit me that would make this song have a catchy name. In the end I decided to use a rip-off the tongue-in-cheek, "The Girl from Impanema", by naming "The Girl from Borocay" since the famous song inspired this piece. In case your wondering what is "Boracay", it is beautiful area in the Philippines with nice resorts and a beautiful white sand beach. Since I never visted there when I wrote this song, I figured to use the name since this song would tell of a story of a man finding a beautiful girl there.
