On July 15, 2011, Me and Adam (CSX6000, PennRailVideos) took a trip to Lancaster County for a day on the Strasburg Railroad, in celebration of four years on YouTube for me. The Steam Locomotive for this day was Norfolk an Western Class M 4-8-0 #475, equipped with a 12 inch whistle. We rode the train and captured him at several different locations along this scenic 4 1/2 mile long railroad in Amish land. Also seen is High Speed Amtrak along the Keystone Corridor, at locations like Irishtown Road, Leaman Place, and Gap. Even bigger a surprise is Strasburg SW8 8618 bringing empty reight cars to Leaman Place for NS to pick up, and then returning. Additionally, as most of you may know, the railroad recently upgraded their only bridge on the line. We caught a shot of the half-hourly train crossing this new addition to the Strasburg Railroad. Strasburg Railroad was performing maintenance on their "run-around" track, for transloading purposes(there is no track right now), so SRC #90 had to run-around the train in the yard in order to push the train into the station. This is the view from the 11:00 train on October 9th, 2011, returning from Leamon's Place at 12:00. Enjoy, because this may be a one-time event! Well, I decided to ride Strasburg Railroad's 11:00 train on October 9th, 2011, from the view of the Marian First-Class car. Ex-Great Western 2-10-0 Decapod #90, with engineer Steve at the helm, put on quite a show today, and they really wailed on that Reading 6-chime! NOTE: This video shows the FULL RIDE between Leaman Place Junction and Strasburg Yard (#90 had to run around in the yard and push into the station). After he skipped his start when his team played Pawtucket in May, our friends at Channel 4 San Diego forwarded us some nice footage of baseball's latest phenom, Stephen Strasburg, from his SD State days The Washington Nationals selected the San Diego State alum with the first pick in the 2009 MLB draft. Since then, Strasburg has overpowered minor league hitters with his 100 mile per hour fastball and equally awesome curveball. Strasburg makes his major league baseball debut on Tuesday with the Nationals.

Footage of Washington Nationals pitcher Stephen Strasburg's first start since his Tommy John (elbow) surgery last summer. Pitching with Washington's Class A, South Atlantic League (Minor League) affiliate, the Hagerstown Suns, Strasburg pitched 1 2/3 innings. He threw 31 pitches and totaled four strikeouts. He gave up one earned run, via solo homerun to Florida Marlins prospect, Greensboro Grasshoppers catcher Jacob "JT" Realmuto. The contest against the visiting Greensboro Grasshoppers was the first game of a day-night double-header. Strasburg's appearance attracted more than 8000 fans to the tiny stadium.Many waited for six and seven hours in the stadium parking lot, hoping to take home an autograph from the star pitcher. Other notable prospects appearing in the game were AJ Cole, Adrian Sanchez, Michael Taylor, Jason Martinson for the Suns (Nationals) and Christian Yelich, Marcell Ozuna, Isaac Galloway, Jacob Realmuto and Noah Perio for the Marlins. I made a visit to the Strasburg Railroad on Sunday, October 9th, along with koasterkidd and Walschaerts90. It was a beautiful day, and with the amount of people there, you'd think Thomas was in town! I was also very pleased to see my favorite locomotive, ex-Great Western 2-10-0 'Decapod' #90 doing the honors for the day's 10-car long excursion. They did something a little interesting. The run-around track at the Strasburg depot had been torn up. It will be replaced. What they had to do was that 90 had to run around the train at the Strasburg yard and shove the train into the depot. An interesting change of pace, that's for sure. We see the train at Strasburg, Fairview crossing, Esbenshade crossing, Carpenter's Crosssing, Cherry Hill, and the Pumpkinville Turnpike Bridge. I'm glad I got my shots of the bridge as it is soon to be torn up and replaced. Hope you enjoy! The power for these trips was Norfolk and Western M Class 4-8-0 475, built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1906. First we see the 475 runnning around its train at Strasburg. Next we see the train tender first at Esbenshade Road and Leaman Place Junction where the Strasburg RR interchanges with Amtrak. I visited the Strasburg Railroad on August 19, 2011. 475 and 89 were running. My first time seeing 475 and what a beauty! The entire railroad is maintained to a very high standard. The cars look better than brand new which is even more impressive when you consider how many people ride this train on a daily basis. The cagney was also running and is in top shape as well. I spent the night at the Red Caboose Motel and my boys loved it. What a great area to visit!

Two days of shooting and riding the Strasburg Railroad's excursion trains and equipment moves. We start off by watching SW8 #8618 move some cars around, then take a ride on the train behind 4-8-0 #475, the only known operating 4-8-0 in North America. We'l ride the open-air observation platform abutting the locomotive taking in the sights and sounds of the locomotive, all the way to the Amtrak interchange at Leaman Place where the locomotive runs around the train and pulls us back to Strasburg. Then we'll watch Railcar #10 handle the 3:00 run and #475 moving #89 inside the engine shed.

HD 1080p: On Tuesday July 5th, Eastern Railfan Productions made its way to the Strasburg Railroad to see what was going on. On this day #475 was operating the trains and #90 was getting painted in the engine house, however we were hit with unexpected action. Strasburg's SW8 #8618 was shunting TILX tankers in the yard, and soon afterwards pulled one tanker out of the yard and onto the mainline towards Leaman Place. We chased the 8618 all the way to Leaman Place and back, catching 475 a couple times, as well as an Amtrak Keystone. Back at the yard the 8618 coupled itself to #89 (which was sitting outside) and pushed it back into the engine house to finish off the day's duties. I apologize for the shaky footage at the beginning as I did not have my tripod on hand when the yard movements began. It was another fine day at Strasburg. They decided to run 2 trains on Saturday, Oct. 8th because of the expected crowds. #90 & #475 did the honors. The mainline into the station is torn up past the water tower. The engines had to run around their train in the yard, causing them to get behind. They also added an extra half hour train that didn't leave until 2:50. The 3:00 train left at 3:20. It was a fun day and the crowds were huge! Excellent news for the railroad. Enjoy!

HD 1080p: During my spring break with GulfWindProductions, we visited the Strasburg Railroad for some Easter action. N&W 475 was the locomotive that ran this day, and although it was dark, cloudy, and windy, the 475 put on a great show! Overall the railroad seemed to be hopping, since the decision was made to add a 4:00 train to the schedule! We follow 475 around the entire line, as well as catch the two Amtrak Pennsylvanians in Paradise, and see the LO&S #10 make a quick run down the line back towards Strasburg. Renumbered to #382, the locomotive sports a replica spark arrestor on the smokestack, mimicking the look of a locomotive starring in many of famed rail photographer O. Winston Link's photographs. The railroad made the decision to run two trains for the weekends in December, and had 90 and 89 doing the honors.
