The beginning of a great and unlucky series, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. With the Wes Mendell rant about TV. With italian subs, as a tribute to a great series which still hasn't come to our country, and which I really miss. Every right to this belongs to NBC, this movie has a simple purpose: being a tribute and catch audience to a great series when it'll come to Italy.

One of my favorite moments from the series. Sting plays a beautiful rendition of Fields of Gold on the lute while Matt and Harriet talk. The brilliant production of poignant scenes such as these can nearly be considered Sorkin's MO. While this made the West Wing wildly popular, romanticizing Hollywood failed to appeal to as large of an audience. IIn my opinion the canceling of the show was yet another example of a major TV network investing in quantity over quality--pulling in a lot of ad money as quickly as possible with no thought to long-term viewer loyalty or their own reputation. Sorkin's frank discussion of these same issues through "Studio 60" surely contributed to its unfortunate demise.

Stuff I feel like sharing: The kiss between Matt and Harriet, Matthew uses his tongue more than I have ever seen in stage kissing, or at least, stage kissing with him. The scene is dark, so you have to watch carefully. VERY hot! In the scene where Matt is talking with Danny about how Jordan could die, and then Danny would have no rights to the child, the expressions on Matt's face are SO powerful, it just goes to show just how versitile an actor he is. Also, some of the images/slides seem a little elongated to me. I'm not sure why this is, as I did nothing different with this eppie. Sorry if it bugs. First, let me start off by saying that this isn't the sort of video I normally put up online. When I'm working on a project (such as short films, concert videos, etc) I always have a project on the side that I do as a distraction. Alot of the times the things I'm working on get frustrating and tedious and I need something else to get my mind off the current project. At the same time, because it's still editing, it keeps me in the mood and usually leads me to revelations about whatever I was originally working on. This side project turned into something more, and I'm sharing it because Studio 60 was a tremendous show. A show that shouldn't have left as early as it did. That said, realize that this was just for fun. Treat it as such. A quick search on this site shows tons of Matt & Harriet videos, but they all seem extremely emotional and reflective to me. For such an upbeat and witty show I was surprised to see this. They're not bad videos by any means, just not the things I remember looking back.
