Hey There! For lessons with me go to www.tomquayle.co.uk I finally got round to recording some videos with my new Suhr guitar and what a guitar she is! I've just improvised over a couple of quick backing tracks I came up with. The first track uses the SSV+ bridge humbucker in coil-tap mode and the second uses the Middle FL and Bridge SSV+ split in combination. The guitar was run straight into the Mesa Express 5:25 burn channel with no effects, then out the FX loop into Logic Pro where I used a custom impulse response to simulate a Boogie 4x12 Cab. A little delay was added to the first sound but the second is dry. Hope you like, these guitars are truly amazing in every respect and the Suhr team are fantastic to work with. The two most popular bridge choices for Suhr guitars are the Gotoh 510 and Gotoh Double Locking Floyd. Both of these bridges stay in tune and sound great! They also have a different feel and range. What we wanted to focus on in this video is the tone. Is there a tonal difference between the Gotoh 510 and Floyd? In times past the double locking floyd bridges have frequently been a compromise, trading off tone for increased tuning stability and tremolo range. Replaced the SD Blackouts in my Suhr Modern for the Suhr Aldrich pickups. Used the same amp, DAW settings. same mics and same mic placements. Used an Edirol R09-HR for the room and a Sennheiser E609 for close miking.

Miking the cab with an E609 and a Shure SM57 into an Apogee Duet and recording with Logic Pro 9. This is for educational purposes.
