TakeOff from St. Maarten as seen from cockpit 747. To answer some remarks from viewers: Why is T/O so fast and short? Well, the aircraft weighs only 260.000 kgs (max = 396.000kgs) in this T/O with only 30.000 kgs of fuel for a flight time of 1hr15min to Curacao (you can see the landing here: www.youtube.com ). With this low weight Vr is 125kts and climbout speed is 155kts(=V2 + 10kts) Why is V1 and Vr called so close? Because, when a/c is very light you have to increase V1 to the Vmcg(=Vmin control ground)speed. If you don't and start flying below this speed and an outboard engine fails, you are not able to control a/c. That's why in this T/O V1 is the same as Vr. Yes, it's a 747. No, it's not fake. And to answer some more questions: This take off is part of a three stretch flight: AMS-SXM, then SXM-CUR, then CUR-AMS.

A 1st Class video all the way. Listen to the Trent's rev up (SPEAKERS ON MAX!) as we taxi, hold, take off and then spool down and commence the powerful and long LOOP4 SIDS turn towards London from Los Angeles on a beautiful day. You can see LAX, the beach - Playa Del Rey (no smog!), the turn into the sun over the (few) clouds back over Hermosa Beach and then LA County as we go from west to east towards the Great Lakes and then Greenland and finally to Scotland then England. If you watch carefully during take off, you can see the "AirBUST" A380 aka Flying Junker (Qantas) parked at the satellite terminal because it cannot park at the main terminal. This is one of the best films of a 777 take off. You only get sound (AWESOME ENGINE SOUND) and a view like this from "The Bridge" - that is seat 4J - FIRST CLASS. Also, I dont show you my feet or make you dizzy like other vid's. As we climb, you can hear the Pursar making her announcements as we pass the beach and turn away from the sun and head towards "Blighty". I tried to hold the camera perfectly still for your benefit, but the power was just too much. Still an excellent video. After 10 minutes I started to become tired. So I turned off the camera, pressed recline (to bed position) and took a snooze for a while before my first (of many) scotch and soda's. Please enjoy and post your comments.

The pilot has done an excellent job; - there's a busy public road beyond the boundary fence,less than 50 metres from the end of the runway. Imagine you're driving at the maximum speed allowed on a major highway and you have to suddenly stop the car. In April, a fully-loaded 747-8 Freighter with worn-out brakes attempted an aborted takeoff on a California runway. The rejected takeoff or maximum brake energy test is one of the most dramatic for a new airplane. It's basically what Boeing test pilot Captain Kirk Vining had to do recently with the new 747-8 Freighter during one of the most dramatic airplane certification tests. However, instead of a 4000-pound (1815 kilograms) car, the 747-8 weighed in at close to one million pounds. "In the emergency event that we have to make a rejected takeoff at these heavy weights, it takes a long distance for the airplane to stop," says Capt. Vining. The Boeing 747-8 Intercontinental and 747-8 Freighter are the new, high-capacity 747s that offer the lowest operating costs and best economics of any large passenger or freighter airplane. Both are on track to make their first deliveries later this year after certification. To simulate the ultimate rejected takeoff (RTO), crews loaded the airplane above its maximum takeoff weight of 975000 pounds and installed a set of 100% worn-out brakes. Taken at East Midlands Airport 26th October 2009, this video is of the Antonov An 225 Mriya, the largest cargo plane flying today. She was built in 1988 by Antonov, Ukraine. This massive plane was due to take off yesterday but was delayed as she didn't have a cargo. We arrived at the airport about 10am with the take off scheduled for 11am. Just after 10.30 we heard the engines being fired up, after a good engine warm up she started to move just a short distance. The nose cone was lifted, I assume for cargo to be loaded. At about 11am she was on the move again, this time she taxied out on to the runway. She passed very close to where we were standing and disappeared from sight to the other end of the runway. We heard her engines howling and she came into view again already airborne and then flew overhead and into low level cloud. I hope you enjoy the video, though it really does not do justice to the incredible size of this plane.
