Tandem Surfers at the Cocoa Beach NKF Surfing Festival Sept., 1-5, 2011
These tandem surfers are awesome! It's hard enough to surf solo but try holding 100 plus pounds over your head with one hand while balancing on a moving board. This 26th Annual Festival supports the National Kidney Foundation and is the place to be on Labor Day Week End in Cocoa Beach. Running from Sept. 1 through 5, the Pro-Am Event has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for charity and given both young and seasoned surfers a chance to shine in the spotlight. I'll post a second video soon with more bikinis.

Surf dog & adaptive quadriplegic surfer do tandem & party waves
Patrick Ivison, an adaptive surfer, and surf dog Ricochet got together to tandem surf at Del Mar beach on Aug 20, 2009 for the first time. Patrick was run over by a car when he was a child, and suffered a spinal cord injury. He has used a wheelchair ever since. Ricochet fundraised to help offset costs of Patrick's physical therapy, and new service dog, and raised more than $10000 for him! And, one of her sponsors, the Rose Foundation awarded a grant that will pay for an additional three years of his therapy! This is almost as fun in the pool .... but the waves make it extra hard to practice adding a little more challenge to the routine and balance.
