During the 8 or so months in production, about half of the time went into creating this animatic. Our approach to creating the story was that we'd just make it up as we went, and keeping such a rough animatic helped to keep our ideas spontaneous. A lot of the visuals were sync to time with early concept music that appears in this animatic, most of which was abandoned later in the production. Hania voices the grandad in the first sequence, as she wrote the dialogue more in the form of a song. This really helped us to nail the tempo early on.

An angel is banished to the cold plains of purgatory. Purged was completed before I started work on Tarboy, and I figured it was about time I packaged and released it on Newgrounds and Youtube. It was my third year animation project in college and the first larger scale short film I completed. It was also the first project completed that Hania and I collaborated on. The production of this was an absolute nightmare to say the least. Working on this project was the reason I decided to do Tarboy completely in Flash. My overall pipeline for animation looked something like this: 1.Draw images on paper. 2. Scan into Photoshop for digital paint. 3. Bring into morphing software for head turns 4. Export into Flash for character animation. 5. Export into Adobe After Effects for compositing. 6. Export into Premier for Editing. I'm thinking this will receive a mixed response, but at this stage I'm glad it's finally out. Hope you enjoy it, check out the bonus features if you want to learn more about my messy pre-production process :) For Purged, I wanted to create something experimental, which revolved around the concepts of heaven, purgatory and hell. Tarboy, CEO of Trackboyz platnium production team came thru to clarify his statement on artists making mixtapes. We first reported his take from fb: "You no what i done came to the conclusion that people put out mixtapes cuz they to lazy to take the time and effort to put out quality material when r rapers gonna go back to cuming up wit creative ideas that people r really intersted in" Then all hell broke lose on stlhiphop, a site representing a city filled with artists, with everyone from the top down posting their two cents... He later clarified, adding: "A mixtape is suppose to be a marketing tool for promoting an upcoming album since when do we have mixtape release parties and shit like that then after that happens we never get an album yeah Jeezy Wayne and all major artist come wit mixtapes but its to keep them relevant in between their albums now we use this tool as a cheap to say we can rap this was good in hiphop years ago because it allowed us freedom from the labels control but now it seems to be destroying it because of its lack or originality and meaning" The man behind such hits as "Tipsy" and "Air Force Ones" and "Po Folks" came thru to clear the air for once and for all, defending his take on the mixtape game. He also give insight into his humble beginnings and why his level of hustle isn't necessarily about the money.
