Animation On Display 2012: Jayson Thiessen Signs A Banana
On a very last minute idea, we decided to bring a, mmmmmmmm, banana bag to the 2nd and last day of Animation on Display in San Francisco on Sunday, February 19th, 2012. On the spot, we figured the best idea ever: Have My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic's supervising director Jayson Thiessen sign one of the, mmmmmmmmm, bananas. As you see: He has been accustomed with making very tiny signatures by now, but this is definitely a first for him. Right after this video ends, we briefly explained the reasoning of why we had him sign a banana. Briefly. Thanks so much Mr. Thiessen for putting up with our brony shenanigans! You rock! Woo-hoo! Relient K Interview Matt Thiessen Paramore Tour 2010
Check out my backstage interview with Relient K lead singer Matt Thiessen. Relient K is a Christian rock band from Canton, Ohio. Their big break came in 1999 when the band was discovered by tobyMac. Soon after the band was signed and released their self titled debut, introducing the world to Relient K. Over the next few years Relient K released multiple albums, all of which sold well and grew the band's popularity among it's mainly Christian fanbase. But everything changed in 2004 when Relient K released their smash hit Mmhmm. The record featured two top 40 hits (Be My Escape and Who I Am Hates Who I've Been) and landed the band's music on platforms like MTV. All of this extensive exposure morphed Relient K into a pop sensation. The band followed up Mmhmm with three more popular albums. To date the band has sold over 2 million records, including five that were certified Gold. They have also performed on shows like Jay Leno, Conan O'Brien and Jimmy Kimmel, as well as numerous tours with bands like Switchfoot, Hawthorne Heights and tobyMac. Relient K also played the Van's Warped Tour in 2005 and 2008.
