In this story the Doctor is force to come to terms with the consequence his actions can bring. The Doctor then speaks up in his own defence by moving into the future. With Peri gone he has a new companion mel and together they search for a murder aboard ship who will stop at nothing to protect his or her secret. Then the Doctor faces the final chanllenge with some timely assistance from the Master he can prove his claim that the Matrix evidence has been tampered with. The Doctor finds out more disturbingly that in his own future somewhere between his twelth and final form he has some evil in him.
