The National Anthem of the Russian Federation (Russian: Государственный гимн Российской Федерации, "Gosudarstvenny Gimn Rossiyskoy Federatsii") is the national anthem of Russia. The song is an adaptation of the anthem of the Soviet Union that was used from 1944 until 1990, with music originally composed by Alexander Alexandrov. The lyrics were revised for the anthem of the Russian Federation by Sergey Mikhalkov, who also wrote lyrics for versions of the Soviet anthem in 1943 and 1977. In 1990, Russia needed a new anthem to distance itself from the Soviet past. Although "God Save The Tsar!" was used before the overthrow of the Tsar in 1917, President of the Russian SFSR, Boris Yeltsin, decided to select the song "Patrioticheskaya pesnya" by Mikhail Glinka. Composed without words and discovered after Glinka's death, the anthem, without lyrics, was decreed official in 1993. Due to the lack of lyrics, the anthem was not popular. In addition, it did not inspire some Russian athletes during international competitions. A few contests were then sponsored by the government to include lyrics in the anthem, however none were adopted. Because of this, President Vladimir Putin decided that Alexandrov's music was to be restored, and that new lyrics should be written for it. The worst National Anthem renditions ever. Oh say, can you see, which celebrity or performer butchered the song, and who was on the biggest stage? Many have called The Star Spangled Banner one of the toughest pieces of work to perform. Amar Shonar Bangla (My Golden Bengal) (Bangla:আমার সোনার বাংলা) is a 1906 song written and composed by the poet Rabindranath Tagore, the first ten lines of which were adopted in 1972 as the Bangladesh national anthem. The word shonar literally means 'made of gold', but in the song shonar Bangla may be interpreted to either express the preciousness of Bengal or a reference to the colour of paddy fields before harvest. The song was written in 1906 during the period of Bongobhanga (Bôngobhôngo - 1905 Partition of Bengal) - when Bengal was divided in two halves by the British government based on religion. This song, along with a host of others, was written to rekindle the unified spirit of Bengal. It is said that the music of this song was inspired by the Baul singer Gagan Harkara's song "Kothay Pabo Tare". Since 1997, the South African national anthem has been a hybrid song combining new English lyrics with extracts of the hymn "Nkosi Sikelel' iAfrika" and the former anthem "Die Stem van Suid-Afrika" (The Call of South Africa). It is the only neo-modal national anthem in the world, by virtue of being the only one that does not finish in the home key. The lyrics employ the five most widely spoken of South Africa's eleven official languages - Xhosa (first stanza, first two lines), Zulu (first stanza, last two lines), Sesotho (second stanza), Afrikaans (third stanza) and English (final stanza). Nkosi Sikelel' iAfrika was composed in 1897 by Enoch Sontonga, a Methodist school teacher. It was pretty awesome seeing the jets approaching as she was building up to the big note and they flew over the stadium as she belted it out. The doves being released was also a cool added touch. THE most patriotic national anthem I've ever heard. There's nothing more patriotic than a platoon of soldiers standing in the Red Square, in the dead cold of winter, wearing their Russian-style coat and hat, clutching their AK-47, with tanks and helicopters, ICBMs raised and pointed at America, and just belting at the top of their lungs, "Soyooz nerushimi respooblik svobodnik/ Sploitilya navieki velikaya RUUUSSS!!! PARTIA LENINA!! Silya Narodnaya!!" The guy who wrote it is clearly trained classical music, with moving base-lines and many voices. I love it! I might not be playing exactly the original - I learned what I could from Rocky IV...you can tell by the key - but I think it's close enough. Kyle Lowder plays the role of "Rick Forrester," eldest son of Brooke Logan and Eric Forrester, on The Bold and the Beautiful. Lowder, who received an Emmy® nomination for his role as Brady Black on Days of Our Lives, is a classically trained vocalist, who studied music theory and voice performance with Dr. Renato Mario Vellutino, of Italian opera fame and during his senior year of high school, was accepted into the prestigious All-State Choir, consisting of the top 280 rated singers in the state of New York, at which Lowder received a perfect rating of 100. Lowder continued his musical studies in college as a BFA in the performing arts program at Syracuse University but left in his sophomore year to pursue his acting career. He has continued singing, having performed the National Anthem for Major League Baseball and NBA games at venues including Dodger Stadium and The Staples Center. Born in St. Louis, Missouri, Lowder moved to the east coast with his family when he was three years old and grew up in Pleasantville, New York in Westchester County. Lowder was quarterback of the Pleasantville Panthers, All New York State in Track and Field in the 800-meter event and competed in the International High School Track Championships. Prior to accepting his acting roles, Lowder appeared in several national campaigns and runway shows for Abercrombie & Fitch and Speedo. Lowder currently lives in Los Angeles, CA with his wife, actress Arianne Zuker. His birthday is August 27.

10 Yr Old Athena Creese performed the Nationa Anthem before a Central Hockey League game when the Arizona Sundogs hosted the Tulsa Oilers at Tim's Toyota Center in Prescott Valley AZ on 12/17/11. I have posted many videos of Athena singing the Anthem in the past but its been awhile.
