Security cameras video released by Lambert Airport shows dramatic pictures of the tornado that hit St. Louis on Friday. The airport reopened on Saturday night for a handful of arriving flights, and officials expected around 70 percent of the scheduled arrivals and departures to go on as planned early on Sunday. Some 750 homes in the St. Louis region were damaged, and less than 100 were uninhabitable, by the 128 kilometres per hour (80 miles per hour) tornado, officials said. Just one day after the tornado, the tarmacs and runways around the airport that looked like war zones were nearly spotless!! The concourses were fully boarded up too. Unfortunately, the rain on my window messed up the autofocus on my camera, but you can still see plenty of the damage. This video was shot 2 miles west of Lambert Airport on I-70. We just caught the outer edge of the tornado. We had been chasing this storm since it first began south of Columbia, MO. It finally became Tornadic before reaching the suburbs of St. Louis. We were just catching the western edge of the tornado as it moves east. Debris flying everywhere, powerlines went down ahead of us, transformers blowing up, and semis overturned. Excuse the language please.

I shot this video of the tornado that hit Bridgeport (Jackson County) Alabama during the late afternoon of April 27, 2011. The tornado killed a teenage boy and seriously injured his mother, injured scores of others and caused major damage to many parts of the city. This video segment was taken from the edge of the depot grounds across from Soulard Square and the Bridgeport Police Department parking lot looking towards the railroad depot and Battery Hill. The tornado tore a path of destruction through the southside of the city before crossing the Tennessee River where it destroyed thousands of trees in Hog Jaw Valley, several homes and the old Harris Chapel church building. In addition, it severely damaged Harris Chapel Cemetery with many gravestones broken, trees downed and at least one grave opened by an uprooted tree. The position of the tornado in the video was about one-mile away and just crossing the river. It was traveling about 50 mph and had hit the Concord portion of the the city about two minutes before where the worst devastation was suffered . Update 5-4-2011: The National Weather Service has given this tornado a preliminary rating of EF-4 with a width of 3/4 of a mile and total length 38.5 miles, which includes 18 miles into Marion County, Tennessee. Doppler Radar - Saint Louis Good Friday Tornado - April 22 2011
During the evening of Friday April 22, an intense supercell thunderstorm produced a long-track tornado which tore a path of destruction from west to east across the St. Louis Metropolitan Area. The tornado reached a maximum intensity of EF4 on the Enhanced Fujita Scale as it tracked through the community of Bridgeton, just west of Lambert St. Louis International Airport. The total path length was 22 miles, with a width of up to 0.4 miles. The tornado initially touched down along the northern edge of Creve Coeur Lake at approximately 755 pm. It tracked nearly due east at about 40 mph, and intensified as it entered Maryland Heights. There it produced up to EF3 damage to many homes and businesses with a damage swath of 200 to 400 yards wide. Damage continued eastward in an unbroken track, crossing I-270 about 1 mile south of I-70. The tornado reached peak intensity of EF4 as it devastated the community of Bridgton along Old St. Charles Rock Road. From there the tornado paralleled Interstate 70 through the community of St. Ann, then took aim directly on Lambert St. Louis International Airport. Many of the large windows in the main terminal building were blown out or damaged by flying debris and a large section of roof was peeled from Concourse C. Although the vast majority of people were evacuated to lower levels and to interior rooms before the tornado hit, 5 people were treated and released from area hospitals for injuries due to flying debris.
