Baby Russian Tortoise Habitat Enclosure
Our Russian Tortoise "Dillon". We've had him about a month, assume he's about 3-6 months old. Just about 2.5 inches in diameter. His house is about 32 inches in length by 16 inches wide by about 10 inches tall. Made of pine 8 foot boards cut to size and screwed together on a pressboard 1/2 inch thick base that's actually 2 pieces screwed together to make the 32 inch by 16 inch base. One 9 inch by 32 inch by 1/4 inch plastic piece that I had cut to size, carefully pre-drilled holes then screwed in place of one the the original board pieces to create a window. One ceramice infrared heat lamp for nightime warmth, a 50 Watt floodlamp that replaced the 50 watt basking bulb that burned out. Found out they produce pretty identical light and heat but standard 50 watt floodlight bulb is half the price. ReptiSun 5.0 18 inch UVB bulb about 9 inches above substrate. Dual thermometers with about 70 degrees on cool end up to about 85-95 degrees on warm basking end. Cypress mulch used as substrate. Non-toxic if they consume, soft enough to burrow into as they love too, and just enough moisture.
