Big waves and high winds smash boats in Port San Luis

Boats were no match for the angry Pacific today. Big waves took some of them away from their moorings in Port San Luis Wednesday morning, as strong southerly winds churned up the seas and broke away the anchoring hardware. As the waves rolled on in, spectators gathered to see how the crunching breakers did their damage. In one case, only small pieces were left from one boat that had been ripped from its' anchor spot in the harbor and tossed ashore like a toy. A number of folks watched in amazement as the ocean overpowered things in its' way. "Just a lot of power it has, lots of power...It's so sad, people losing all the boats," said Jason Tildalgo of Nipomo who was watching the waves do their thing. The hard-driving waves in Port San Luis came from winds that were blowing just right. Steve McGrath, the Port San Luis harbor manager said, "when they come from the south, it comes right into the harbor and we can often see damage. This is what happened in fact in 1983." Further up the coast in Cayucos, the waves were even bigger. A few folks braved the weather to venture out on the pier there for a closer look at the 20ft+ breakers. No signs though of any surfers nearby today. Perhaps it was just too stormy for even the most adventurous souls...The Pacific was in full charge of the show today.

Rogue wave hits cruise ship in Mediterranean Sea - Raw Video From Lounge

"People were screaming, panicking. They were grabbing life vests," Zanoni said. He said he saw one huge shard of glass hit a man in the face, killing him. It took a while to find the body because he was under the wreckage of the ceiling, Zanoni said. The ship's owner and operator, Louis Cruise Lines, said the vessel was struck Wednesday by three "abnormally high" waves more than 33 feet (10 meters) high that broke glass windshields in the forward section on deck five, which is one of 10 used by passengers. Two people died and 14 were slightly hurt, the company said. Large waves are not rare in the Mediterranean, but ones that size occur only once or twice a year, said Marta de Alfonso, an oceanographer with the Spanish government. This accident happened in an area of the Mediterranean called the Gulf of Leon, which is known for big waves

Shocking Video Of Cruise Ship Hit By Storm

Video footage has emerged of passengers and furniture being thrown across the floor of a cruise liner as the ship was battered by stormy seas. The P&O Pacific Sun hit rough waters 400 miles off the coast of New Zealand. As the ship rocked violently to and fro, guests and staff tried to grab anything that was nailed down. Receptionists clung to their desks and computers, as waves washed in as high as the fifth deck. But some passengers were unable to hold on and they were flung to the floor, while tables and chairs hurtled towards them. In a scene that could be straight out of a Hollywood disaster movie, the CCTV images show people repeatedly thrown from one side of the deck to the other. Several people slam into poles and others are pummelled by the sliding furniture. P&O offered passengers a 20% discount on their next cruise.

The Wedge

south swell at the wedge Bodysurfer dies at wedge The explosive "Wedge" surf break in Newport Beach has left generations of daredevils with broken bones and concussions. On Friday, with waves topping 20 feet, it killed a man -- a rare death at a place that would seem to invite it. An unidentified bodysurfer was thrown against the rock jetty that produces the Wedge's outsized waves at about 12:30 pm Newport Beach lifeguards pulled him aboard their boat and he later died at nearby Hoag Memorial Hospital, authorities said. Large waves pound south-facing beaches "There was a relatively small group of bodysurfers and boarders in the water," said Jim Turner, a Newport Beach lifeguard battalion chief. "On the shore, there were in excess of a thousand spectators." A high-surf warning has been in effect for Southern California. Lifeguards along the coast reported a higher than average number of rescues Friday and were bracing for more of the same today and Sunday. "We're advising all beachgoers to talk to lifeguards to find out where that safe place is to swim," said Orange County lifeguard Capt. Terry Harvey. "We are prepared for a busy weekend." Despite its fierce reputation, the Wedge's lifeguard tower is generally shuttered. But on Friday, Turner said lifeguards were on duty there and a patrol boat was stationed offshore. Huge tsunami wave sweeps Quake across Japan

timesofearth.com A devastating tsunami triggered by the biggest earthquake on record in Japan killed at least 1000 people along the northeastern coast on Friday after a wall of water swept away everything in its path. Thousands of residents were evacuated from an area around a nuclear plant north of Tokyo after fears of a radiation leak, but officials said problems with the reactor's cooling system were not at a critical level. Underscoring grave concerns about the plant, the US air force delivered coolant to the facility, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said. The unfolding disaster in the wake of the 8.9 magnitude earthquake and 10-meter (33-feet) high tsunami prompted offers of help from dozens of countries. Up to 300 bodies were earlier found in the coastal city of Sendai, media said. NHK television said the victims appeared to have drowned. The extent of the destruction along a lengthy stretch of coastline suggested the death toll could rise significantly. Tsunami warnings were issued across the Pacific but were later lifted for some of the most populated countries in the region, including Australia, Taiwan and New Zealand. Other Japanese nuclear power plants and oil refineries were shut down and one refinery was ablaze. Television footage also showed an intense fire in the waterfront area near Sendai, the city hardest hit by the quake. A major explosion hit a petrochemical complex in Miyagi prefecture after the quake, Kyodo said. Political leaders pushed for an ...

NOW ON DVD FROM RHI ENTERTAINMENT - The latest in the MANEATER SERIES is "Sea Beast." During a storm at sea, a fisherman is tossed overboard by a massive wave and taken down into the turbulent waters, or so it appears. But it wasnt a wave that pulled him under. It was something else. In the wake of the storm, Captain Will McKenna (Emmy Nominee Corin Nemec, "Ghost Whisperer") and the rest of the crew arrive back to their sleepy town of Cedar Bay, Oregon, defeated. Not only have they lost a great man, but theyre returning to a once-booming fishing village, rapidly being exhausted of its resources, suffering a major economic downturn. Its also a concern of Arden Jaymes (Camille Sullivan, The L Word), a marine biologist brought in to help identify the cause of the sudden and strange depletion of fish. However, this is about to be the least of their problems. Unbeknownst to anyone, the same hideous amphibian creature wrenched up from the depths of the sea has followed Wills boat back to shore. And its come to Cedar Bayto feed. As Will and Arden attempt to find answers to the towns fishing dilemma, they find the mutilated body of a local dock hand. Everyone believes it was simply an animal attack, but Will senses that its something more horrific. Japan Massive Earthquake and Tsunami 3/11/2011

Japan Huge Earthquake and Tsunami 3/11/2011.The powerful earthquake that unleashed a devastating tsunami Friday appears to have moved the main island of Japan by 8 feet (2.4 meters) and shifted the Earth on its axis. "At this point, we know that one GPS station moved (8 feet), and we have seen a map from GSI (Geospatial Information Authority) in Japan showing the pattern of shift over a large area is consistent with about that much shift of the land mass," said Kenneth Hudnut, a geophysicist with the US Geological Survey (USGS).Reports from the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology in Italy estimated the 8.9-magnitude quake shifted the planet on its axis by nearly 4 inches (10 centimeters). The temblor, which struck Friday afternoon near the east coast of Japan, killed hundreds of people, caused the formation of 30-foot walls of water that swept across rice fields, engulfed entire towns, dragged houses onto highways, and tossed cars and boats like toys. Some waves reached six miles (10 kilometers) inland in Miyagi Prefecture on Japan's east coast.

A double minded man - a word from Lord Jesus

A double minded man - a word from Lord Jesus A double minded man is unstable in all his ways, if you are double minded in My obedience you can never enter into My kingdom, sometimes you are up and sometimes down, you always have two different opinions, you waver all the time, for he that wavers is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. You are like a ship lost in ocean taken by the big waves left and right, no direction and you don't have a destination, you need Me as a Captain to guide your ship to the right destination, but you retreat and surrender to your doubts, and your all the time double minded, you can never decide to follow Me definitely, be careful your ship may sink. You are like the foolish man, which built his house on the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat on that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it. You can't even decide which way to walk, narrow way or broad way, you are playing with fire, because you must walk only in narrow way which leads to life. I am coming soon to remove your lampstand from it's place, unless you repent, and you set your affection on things above, and let this mind be in you, which was also in Me: to be one opinion and one Spirit with Me, and My face shall go before you and I shall give you rest, and never be a double minded man.

Sweden industrialized nation to bananarepublic in 20 years. Sweden is no more swedish.

Sweden was transformed from industrialized nation to a bananarepublic in only 20 years. Sweden (Sverige) is now an introvert cleptocracy. Before 1977 Sweden had an immigration of 2000 per year. Recent years the government decided to promote massimmigration, nearly 100.000 asylumseekers arrive to Sweden each year. The number equals the population of three average Swedish cities. There is no housing or resources left in Sweden so the government is cutting back on all social services. Sweden is cutting back the resources to healthcare, police, courts, drug and border enforcement, retirement accounts, schools, education at primary and college levels. At the same time the government is desperately trying to collect outstanding tax debts quicker. They tax people when they discover that expats come to visit Sweden, illegally they send a huge taxbill claiming they earned income without having any basis. The new Alliance government, Reinfeldt, said "we cant lower the high taxburden, we need it". There is no hope for lower taxes. Those who hoped to have reduced massimmigration experienced a doubling of the massimmigration under the non-socialist alliance government that won the 2006 election. The results of the massimmigration can be seen in hundreds of communities around the country. Sweden never verify the identity of the asylumseekers. The never check the crime record. It measn the violent criminals come as asylum seekers and can obtain a new clean identity and move freely ...

The Hydes.mp4

On October 20, 1928, a pair of newlyweds from Idaho set off from Green River, Wyoming in a large, rectangular wooden box to follow the route of John Wesley Powell. Their unusual craft, which they christened Rain-in-the-Face, was a sweep boat, a type used on streams and rivers that have a consistent, moderate gradient. Glen Hyde was experienced with such boats on rivers in Idaho. The boatman, in this case Glen, stands in the middle while grasping the handles of long, oar-like sweeps...one goes out the bow, the other over the stern. The sweeps are primarily for steering the boat not propulsion. Glen and his young bride Bessie had dreamed up this trip as part of their honeymoon. If they succeeded, Bessie would be the first woman to venture down the Green and Colorado rivers including a descent through the Grand Canyon. The Hydes planned to write book about their adventure and also go on the Eastern lecture circuit. A bright, prosperous future looked promising. For miles, the river flowed slowly and the sweeps were useless as oars. Glen could only try to stay out of back eddies and keep in the current. Then came the canyons and their rapids. Most of the rapids on the Green and Colorado are short but steep drops full of huge waves, big rocks, and holes ready to swallow you up. The faster current helped propel the boat downstream; but by the time it picked up enough momentum so that the sweeps could be used for maneuvering, another boulder or angry wave loomed. When the blade ...
