Tim Bauer - Reduce pollution from motorized tricycles in Asian cities
In Asia, the ubiquitous motorised tricycle with its two-stroke engine is a major cause of air pollution. Working in the Philippines, American mechanical engineer Tim Bauer and his team have developed a kit to reconfigure these machines, drastically reducing their noxious emissions. "At the end of the day, we can improve their lives with a cylinder head, a few brackets, and, of course, hard work. This is our best reward. He now plans to install thousands of kits, greatly improving air quality and providing tricycle drivers with a way to boost their income.

Water calligraphy tricycle
Water calligraphy is a poetic activity that you can observe in many Chinese parks: Artists use a large brush to write Chinese characters using water instead of ink. Minutes after the characters are written, they disappear. Media Artist Nicholas Hanna built a tricycle that writes Chinese characters on the ground as it moves. His tricycle is part of an exhibition for Beijing Design Week: You can see it at the Northern Electric Relay Factory in Dashilanr, south of Qianmen gate. The exhibition opens 6pm on Saturday September 24, 2011, and runs until October 3.

How to build tricycle part 1. My tricycle recumbent type bike. Really cool and easy project i was planing to tackle for long time. It was put together from few old bicycles with almost no money spent at all. I have bunch of people asking about plans. Don't have the plans for the trike. It is all in my head but it is 35 inch wide X 80 inch. long (from rear tire with 28 inch wheel on the back to the center of the sprocket) and 42 inch wheel base. The seat is 12 inches from the ground but i would go lower few inches. The whole trike came in at 54 pounds. Hope this helps. Update: I had many questions about the axles i used for this trike. I found the wheels with axles from the kids bicycle trailer. It is normal trailer you tow two kids behind the bike. The axles nice and strong and comes with the pin. The nice part about them is i can pop the pins out and remove the front wheels and the back wheel and the seat you can remove as easily in few minutes for easy transportation.

VisitBritain and Google are excited to announce the winners of the online poll in which the British public voted for the first tourist attractions to be photographed by the Street View Trike. After receiving over 10000 suggestions for locations we opened the top 16 landmarks up for voting. Over 35000 votes were cast showing the British public's passion for their local landmarks. The top 6 most voted for locations, plus a special 'wildcard' location, will get a visit from the trike over the summer and the images it collects will later appear in Street View on Google Maps (fingers crossed for good cycling weather).

Duke University Capstone Biomedical Engineering Project by students: Alex Feng Lola Xie Jessica Zinck Project Description: Children with disabilities are often left out on the playgrounds and left behind from activities. The adapted tricycle was designed to help alleviate these problems, by being both safe and easy to use for children with TAR syndrome. The tricycle was adapted from a Triaid TMX tricycle. The steering component was taken off the Triaid tricycle and a new adapted four-bar linkage steering mechanism was fitted on, which can be adjusted in height. This allows the client to reach the handle bar and steer the tricycle using his stronger shoulders. The braking system was also adjusted to allow braking by foot while pedaling with the other foot. This change was necessary to utilize the strength of the legs rather then depending on the relatively weak hands. In addition, the gear system was changed on the tricycle to allow it to move faster so that the client can keep up and feel more like he is riding a standard bicycle. The overall design focused on ease of use, independence, versatility, cost-effectiveness, and aesthetic appeal.
