I show lots of the details as Terry stones the parts and discusses the Smith lockwork on this gun (fascinating by itself). It only took me 28 years to finally get a really nice trigger in a Mini-14. It was something I always wanted to do but never go around to do doing...until now! Here experienced Impact Guns gunsmith Terry Gardner (call sign from me: "Yoda G") opens up his shop and candidly shows his technique on achieving a crisp, 2-stage 3.5 lb trigger pull on this Mini-14 Tactical model. Don't kid yourself though. While Terry makes it look easy and downplays the difficulty, there will be many opportunities for you to dick it up if you try it yourself (I've learned this on other guns myself). Without the over-travel stop, the cost is $65, shipping of your trigger group not included. Is it worth it? Absolutely. In hard cored Nutnfancy RunNGuns, this little Mini-14 Tactical (later DuraCoated in "Sagebrush" color by me) rocked out some impressive scores (results shown). Will it compensate for your bad technique? Nope. Trigger and breath control are always key to connecting accurately, stress or no stress. But this trigger job will make it easier to fire quicker and connect more readily at extended ranges (200 yds for example). This show is some tips for walking the trigger. I assume the people who are most interested in walking the trigger, are playing semi auto. The first thing you have to do is find a gun that is designed for semi auto play. Without a doubt, the best semi auto trigger in paintball is one where the pivot is behind the trigger, not in front of it. Any Bob Long gun, Dye Ultralite Frames, Infinity Legend, FEP Quest, all make great triggers for semi auto play. The biggest issue I see with people trying to walk the trigger is they hold the trigger down with the first finger, when they tap it with the second trigger. This causes missed trigger pulls. My suggestion, and how I pull the trigger, is by sticking my fingers all the way into the guard, and using the area behind the 1st knuckles. Then, hit the trigger guard with your fingernails or back of your fingers, this way you purposely come off the trigger before the next pull. It just takes practice, but walking the trigger is easy and you'll pick it up in no time!

Tips for walking the trigger

The stock triggers on the Ruger 22/45s are adequate and they can shoot accurately in their stock form. But this .22 pistol comes alive with a Volquartsen Mk II trigger kit and bushing. With this installed the gun shoots faster and more accurately. Here I install and narrate the Volquartsen trigger kit for a Mk III 22/45. Along the way I remove the detent from the bolt release (for quicker reloading) and drop in the Mk II bushing which eliminates the ridiculous magazine safety in the gun. With the magazine safety gone, field stripping is greatly simplified and the mags now drop free in reloads. Work is shown in detail and explained, including the positioning of pre and over travel trigger screws. The transformation to Mk II status and removal of the mag safety can be done separately without having to install a new trigger btw. With this video you should be able to effect the install yourself and enjoy a greatly enhanced and funner to shoot 22/45. //////////////////Mk II/III installs will be similar in concept.////////////////////////Music: Original TNP production

This video is just showing you some different ways to set up your trigger. The one way I don't recommend is setting your activation point at the beginning of the trigger pull, with a ton of post travel. This can damage your switch and damage your board. Always set the post travel a little bit after your firing point. Most triggers have 4 adjustments: * Tension - how loose or stiff your trigger is, adjusts the magnet or spring * Pretravel - how far your trigger has to be pulled before your gun fires * Activation Point- the exact point where the trigger shoots the gun * Post Travel - how much your trigger travels AFTER the trigger shoots the gun Hope this helps!

The Rock River Arms 2 stage National Match trigger that I installed on my Ruger 556 had a different hammer than the others NM triggers that I had purchased in the past. I later found that there had been a design change to the hammers. Newer groups have a rounded hammer top and the older design have a notched hammer top. I have found that the new NM trigger had a little over a pound more pull than the older design. This is more than likely due to it not being broken in and variations in manufacturing. The older designs all broke at around 3 to 3.5 lbs. and newer ones tended to break around 4.5 lbs.. I will be interested to see how the new triggers settle in. I know that some people have had problems with the trigger group changing from a 2 stage to a single stage after the break in period. There have also been some breakage of the older hammers, from what I have seen on the internet. This more than likely is due to the law of averages, considering that they sell for $120, and I bet they sell allot of them. We have not seen any of them break, but our sample size is only around 10 trigger groups. I did choose to not to clean up the new groups just in case they need any warranty work, but that is my normal SOP. Thanks for watching.
