Most techniques come to me within time and with good effort. But, one technique that is causing me a ton of grief are trills. Could you please do a lesson on them? I think your lessons are always very clear and they help me immensely. Thanks in advance! - Marc-Antoine, Montreal CANADA A: Trills are one of the oldest musical embellishments in music -- dating all the way back to the 13th century. Guitar players of modern era use them extensively as a way to flutter around notes. They work extremely well to create ornamentation by rapidly flipping from one note over to another very quickly. Normally, on guitar trills are done by way of hammer-ons and pull-offs. And, guitarists in styles like; rock, blues, country and metal will all use them as a way to create smooth connected lines.
