The Rochester & Genesee Valley Railroad Museum operates for the public in partnership with the New York Museum of Transportation. Each museum is an independent group and each museum is located at either end of a shared two mile demonstration railroad. Our dual museum operation is truly unique! While the R&GVRRM collection is concentrated around railroad equipment, the NYMT has concentrated its efforts on trolleys and interurbans with the goal of electrifying a portion of the dual museum demonstration railroad. That goal has been reached in part with a portion of the railroad already under trolley wire. Public trolley operations were begun in 2006, and they are now an every Sunday (mid-May through October) offering of the museums. This video highlights some of the first public operations using one of the NYMT's two ex-Philadelphia & Western "Strafford" cars, the #168. Since this video was shot, the ride has been extended and will be extended even further for the 2008 season! We hope you will come visit our two museums soon and ride the trolleys!

I have been given a rare film that shows the last of the Trolley buses around the city of Derby, Derbyshire. I would like to hear from people if they have seen this footage before as it looks like there should be more footage than this. Filmed on August 20th, 2011 take a ride through time aboard the San Diego Vintage Trolley Silver Line and connect with San Diego's historic transit roots. It's a fun and exciting way to see all of Downtown San Diego's greatest destinations: the Gaslamp Quarter, Seaport Village, PETCO Park, East Village and the waterfront. The Vintage Trolley also stops at 12th & Imperial, San Diego Convention Center, America Plaza, Civic Center, Fifth Ave., City College and Park & Market. At the end of a nondescript residential road in East Haven, Connecticut lies a true gem for railfans and history buffs alike. The Shore Line Trolley Museum boasts a collection nearly 100 rail vehicles as well as a museum with countless artifacts, documents, and hands-on exhibits. The museum is owned by the Branford Electric Railway Association, an organization founded in 1945 to preserve the history of the American trolley car and to preserve the Branford Electric Railway, the line upon which the museum's equipment is operated on today. The 1.5 mile railway is the oldest continuously operating suburban trolley line in the United States. It travels through the salt marshes of Branford, Connecticut and is about as scenic as it can get, from the mazes of rivers and tall grass to the elevated Osprey nests that can be seen along the way (as you can see one motorman point out in the video). The railroad takes you on a journey back in time-to the turn of the last century-in a beautiful manner. Another scene you will notice is the railway's extensive car barn and maintenance area where they service and restore countless artifacts of history. A tour of this facility is included as part of the trolley ride. The trolleys featured in this video are the New Orleans Public Service #850, built in 1922, and the Johnstown Traction 357, once completely submerged in water during the Johnstown Flood of 1938.
