Mogwana Dance Troupe - Botswana
The Mogwana Dance Troupe is a group of professional artistes based in Gaborone, Botswana. They specialise in traditional music, song and dance of indigenous ethnic groups of Botswana and the southern Africa in general. This dance is commonly known as Phathisi, referring to the pieces of skin and rags tied to the legs which are slapped to sound like a drum. It is generally performed in happy times, such as at harvest, by herd-boys.
