Russian Airliner Tupolev TU-154 Airplane Flight Control Problems

AviationExplorer.com - Russian made Tupolev Tu-154 jet appears drunk as it lurches through the sky before safely landing at a military airfield. The military prosecutors have launched a probe which should establish the reasons for the mid-air incident that almost led to an aviation disaster. The spokesman said that the plane's steering system had broken down on a test flight, and praised the pilots for managing to land the plane safely. Russia's aging fleet of Tupolev planes dates back to the 1960s and have been involved in a number of air crashes in recent years.

TU-154 Emergency landing - which is operated by Russian military

Moscow - Russian military prosecutors launched an investigation on Wednesday after an amateur video captured a defence ministry jet lurching terrifyingly out of control in skies close to Moscow. Videos of the Tupolev jet posted on YouTube by witnesses show the aircraft twisting from side to side uncontrollably before pilots manage to land it safely at a military aerodrome outside Moscow. "The military prosecutors have launched a probe which should establish the reasons for the mid-air incident that almost led to an aviation disaster," a spokesperson for the chief military prosecutor's office told the RIA Novosti news agency on Wednesday. The Tu-154 aircraft, dating back to the 1960s, was dubbed the "dancing plane" by bloggers. The spokesperson for the chief military prosecutor's office told RIA Novosti that the aircraft's steering system had malfunctioned and praised the pilots for managing to land safely in a built-up area. "During a test flight, the steering system broke down on the TU-154B-2 plane belonging to the Defence Ministry's 800th air base," the spokesperson said. First flight in 10 years "Thanks to the great professionalism and supreme skill of the pilots, the crew managed to land on the second attempt at Chkalovsk aerodrome, avoiding casualties among the airforce and the local population." The video posted on April 30, which has been watched more than 380 000 times, says that the aircraft was being flown for the first time after a 10-year break.

Tu-154 Out of Control

It's not really clear what happened on board a Russian military Tu-154 at a Moscow-area airport but there's a flight crew that's undoubtedly happy to be on the ground after an odd loss-of-control incident last week. The accompanying video, shot by a planespotter, according to Russia Today, shows the aircraft clearly struggling to maintain some semblance of controlled flight. The crew did finally prevail as the plane eventually landed safely. Details: www.avweb.com

The last minutes of TU-154 Flight 352 Vladivostok Air. (Real Voices of the crew members)

Vladivostok Air Flight 352 was a scheduled passenger flight from Yekaterinburg, Russia to Vladivostok via Irkutsk which, on 4 July 2001 lost control and crashed while approaching Irkutsk Airport. A total of 136 passengers and 9 flight crew members perished in the accident, making it the third deadliest aircraft crash over Russian territory to date. The Tupolev Tu-154M was on approach for Irkutsk, when the pilots lowered the landing gear, the co-pilot realized that the plane was banking. The Tu-154 was at a 45-degree angle, and the nose was starting to drop. The co-pilot reacted by violently pulling back on the control column. The aircraft's nose rose sharply, causing an immediate stall. The plane's proximity to the ground did not allow sufficient room for the pilots to recover, and the aircraft impacted the ground, killing all 145 people on board.

Tu-154 Air Plane Explosion in Surgut Russia - Video

A passenger jet heading to Moscow caught fire as it taxied down a snowy runway in central Russia and then exploded, killing three people and injuring 43 in the Saturday accident, officials said. The jet, a Tu-154 belonging to the regional Kogalymavia airline, was carrying 124 passengers out of Surgut. Most of the passengers and crew were evacuated before the plane's explosion, though people on board described a chaotic scene as the burning plane filled up with thick, black smoke and panicked passengers rushed through flames to escape. 10 people were seriously injured, including six who were badly burned and four who suffered broken bones or other trauma. Most of the other injured passengers sought treatment for poisoning after inhaling toxic fumes. All three engines on the Tu-154 are located in the back of the aircraft. The fire Saturday appeared to have started in the engine mounted over the rear of the plane.

Rossiya/Pulkovo Tupolev TU 154-M Noisy Takeoff at Düsseldorf Airport in 2006

Not too many years ago the TU-154 was a daily visitor in Düsseldorf. I remember the times when we had the apron filled with 5 or more TU5 in the early mornings of summer-most of them were owned by Air Via Bulgarian Airlines (they now operate an A320 fleet), Bulgarian Air Charter (BUC) (they now operate MD80's), and Aeroflot (they are currently phasing out their last Tu5's I believe). Throughout the day the Air Via TU5's would return to do another run to Bulgaria (Varna, Bourgas and Sofia if I remember right), Aeroflot would send at least one more TU5 on one of their three daily flights from Düsseldorf to Moscow Sheremetyevo, Sibir Airlines had a daily afternoon service from Düsseldorf to Moscow-Domodedovo and Pulkovo/Rossiya had two daily flights to St Petersburg and one to Moscow-Vnukovo-all of them were operated by TU-154! In addition to that Aeroflot-Don and Ural Airlines had a weekly flight on Sundays during the Summer to Rostov and Jekaterinburg using the Tu-154. a Pulkovo TU 154M is taking off to St Petersburg. Nowadays there is not a single scheduled Tu5 service left in Düsseldorf, all the mentioned airlines replaced their TU5 services with B737 and Airbus A32X. Ural Airlines and Donavia discontinued their weekly flights into Düsseldorf in the summer of 2008 I really hope to see them again someday. I really miss the TU5's with their unique wing and tail shapes. The sound was unmistakable and loud. The last TU5 flight in Düsseldorf was a Rossiya Flight to St ...

April 2010 crash of Polish Air Force One TU-154 in Smolensk, Russia.

On the 10th of April 2010, the Polish military plane, Tu-154, was involved in a fatal crash in the city of Smolensk, Russia, killing all the crew and passengers aboard. The deaths included the Polish President and First Lady, the last Polish President in exile, the Chief of the General Staff, Commanders-in-Chief, the Chairman of the Polish National Bank, the President of the Institute of National Remembrance, as well as a number of MP's, senators and prominent figures of the Polish elite, among the 96 dead. This incident, which includes these prominent deaths, naturally calls for a complete and transparent investigation - the natural work of international aviation agencies with extensive experience is just such investigations. Yet, on the day of the crash, the Polish government decided to leave the investigation solely in Russian hands, without securing the rights to appeal to international organizations, aviation organizations, and relinquishing the right of an inspection, or any efficient supervision over examination procedures. Russian plane Tu-154 crash. Video of the passenger.

Flight 514 was over Usinsk,[1][3] at an altitude of 10600 m (FL 347) when the first signs of a problem was noticed at about 06:59 local time (02:59 UTC). Later, a complete loss of electrical systems occurred, which resulted in the loss of navigational systems and the loss of electric fuel pumps,[1][2] leaving the aircraft with just 3300 kilograms (7300 lb) of useable fuel,[3] enough for just 30 minutes flight.[4] The loss of the electrically driven pumps prevented transfer of fuel from the wing tanks to the main tank in the fuselage.[5] At about 07:47, the emergency authorities at Izhma were informed that the aircraft may be making an emergency landing at the airport there. Izhma Airport is a former airfield that is now used only for helicopters,[2] and the 1325-metre-long (4347 ft) runway is closed and abandoned.[2][5] The airfield, having closed to aircraft in 2003,[4] was not marked on then-current maps.[6] The passengers were moved to the front of the aircraft. The electrical failure also caused a loss of the radio system, flaps and slats.[3] Two attempts to land were aborted. On the third attempt,[5] a successful emergency landing was made at Izhma at 07:55 local time,[2] but the aircraft overran the runway by 160 metres (520 ft),[3] and sustained minimal damage in the process.[1] The aircraft was landed at a speed of 350 to 380 kilometres per hour (190 to 210 kn) due to the lack of flaps. Although the flaps are powered by hydraulics, the switches operating them are ...

Czyżby zbieg okoliczności czy proroctwo w skeczu, który został napisany i wystawiony przed tragicznymi wydarzeniami. Skecz nawiązywał do fatalnego stanu technicznego rządowych samolotów TU-154.
