U2 - Bloody Sunday

On January 30, 1972, British troops opened fire on unarmed and peaceful civilians in Derry, Ireland during a civil rights march. This music video is a tribute to the 14 killed and others wounded - combining video/music of U2, video from "Bloody Sunday" (2002 movie), and photographs from that terrible day.

U2 - Unchained Melody

One of their B-Sides. It was a B-Side on "All I Want Is You", the last single release of "Rattle And Hum" in June 1989, beside of "Everlasting Love" the other B-Side of this record. Well, I really fell in love with that song. I'm sorry for being an newbie on music, the first version I ever heard from the beginning till end was the Gareth Gates cover and so I got to know the Righteous Brothers version, which is 1000 times better. But this one so special to me, I can't stop listening to Bono's incredible sexy voice. =) Enjoy. DISCLAIMER: Pictures and Music do not belong to me. All rights reserved by Universal Music. BTW: Don't blame me for the ad in the video, I can't help it myself. :(

It was produced by Daniel Lanois and Brian Eno, and was released on 9 March 1987 on Island Records. In contrast to the ambient experimentation of their 1984 release The Unforgettable Fire, U2 aimed for a harder-hitting sound on The Joshua Tree within the limitation of strict song structures. The album is influenced by American and Irish roots music and depicts the band's love-hate relationship with the United States, with socially and politically conscious lyrics embellished with spiritual imagery. Inspired by American tour experiences, literature, and politics, U2 chose America as a theme for the record. Recording began in January 1986 in Ireland, and to foster a relaxed, creative atmosphere, the group recorded in two houses, in addition to two professional studios. Several events during the sessions helped shape the conscious tone of the album, including the band's participation in A Conspiracy of Hope tour, the death of roadie Greg Carroll, and lead vocalist Bono's travels to Central America. Recording was completed in November and additional production continued into January 1987. Throughout the sessions, U2 sought a ...

All I Want Is You "Rattle and Hum" is the sixth studio album by rock band U2 and companion rockumentary directed by Phil Joanou, both released in 1988. The film and the album feature live recordings, covers, and new songs. To a greater extent than on their previous album, The Joshua Tree, the band explores American roots music, and incorporates elements of blues-rock, folk rock, and gospel in their sound. The motion picture was filmed primarily in the United States in late 1987 during the Joshua Tree Tour and it features their experiences with American music. Although Rattle and Hum was intended to represent the band paying tribute to rock legends, some critics accused U2 of trying to place themselves amongst the ranks of these artists. While critical reception was mixed, the album was a commercial success, reaching the number one spot in several countries and selling 14 ...

Tracklist; 1. Sunday Bloody Sunday 2. Seconds 3. New Year's Day 4. Like a Song... 5. Drowning Man 6. The Refugee 7. Two Hearts Beat as One 8. Red Light 9. Surrender 10. "40" "War" is the third studio album by Irish rock band U2, released on 28 February 1983. The album has come to be regarded as U2's first overtly political album, in part because of songs like "Sunday Bloody Sunday", "New Year's Day", as well as the title, which stems from the band's perception of the world at the time; Bono stated that "war seemed to be the motif for 1982." While the central themes of their earlier albums Boy and October focused on adolescence and spirituality, respectively, War focused on both the physical aspects of warfare, and the emotional after-effects. Musically, it is also harsher than the band's previous releases. The album has been described as the record where the band "turned pacifism itself into a crusade." War was a commercial success for the band, knocking Michael Jackson's Thriller from the top of the charts to become the band's first #1 album in the UK. It reached #12 in the US and became their first Gold-certified album there. War has received critical acclaim. In 2003, the album was ranked number 221 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of "The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time".
Depeche Mode So Cruel "U2 Cover"

"We first heard Achtung Baby working on Songs Of Faith And Devotion with Flood. It was the closest our bands ever got: U2 had become more electronic while Depeche Mode were working on a new rock vision. But there was never a rivalry. Bono used reverse psychology in his email, saying he totally understood why we'd say no. We just thought, Why not? So Cruel is Bono at his best, words-wise. And we couldn't tackle One - that would be almost sacrilegious" Martin Gore AHK-toong BAY-bi Covered

It was produced by Daniel Lanois and Brian Eno, and was released on 19 November 1991 on Island Records. Stung by the criticism of their 1988 release Rattle and Hum, U2 shifted their musical direction to incorporate alternative rock, industrial, and electronic dance music influences into their sound. Thematically, the album is darker, more introspective, and at times more flippant than their previous work. Achtung Baby and the subsequent multimedia-intensive Zoo TV Tour were central to the group's 1990s reinvention, which replaced their earnest public image with a more lighthearted and self-deprecating one. Seeking inspiration on the eve of German reunification, U2 began recording Achtung Baby at Berlin's Hansa Studios in October 1990. The sessions were fraught with conflict, as the band argued over their musical direction and the quality of their material. After tensions and slow progress nearly prompted the group to break up, they made a breakthrough with the improvised writing of the song "One". Morale improved during the subsequent recording sessions in Dublin in 1991. To confound the public's expectations of the band and ...

U2 Winter

Winter The yellow sun Well, it took the hand Of a country boy To a city in a far-off land We made no mark No shadow at all On the ancient, holy streets Where I learned to crawl The broken and the bruised The young and the used The sure and confused All here Words will then land on me Then abandon me Mangle, untangle me Leave me on the floor Rhymes, they sprang in me Summer sang in me But summer sings in me no more Now I'm twenty-five And trying to stay alive In a corner of the world With no clear enemies to fight It's hot as hell We're like butter on toast But there's no army in this world That can fight a ghost The broken and the bruised The young and the used The sure and confused All here Words will then land on me Then abandon me Leave me stranded In guard of the door Rhymes began in me Summer sang in me But summer sings in me no more Listening to the cries The strangers The silence of the foreign grave Listening to the thunder The sky is strange Stretched over everyone Listening to the tales The child sings That goes for days and days Listening to the calls Shouts, frustration At twenty-one I was born a son And on that day I knew I could kill To protect the ones We put bullets in guns Or anything it takes To take a life until it's still
