Hysterectomy: Surgical removal of the uterus

A hysterectomy is the surgical removal of the uterus, usually performed by a gynecologist. Hysterectomy may be total (removing the body, fundus, and cervix of the uterus; often called "complete") or partial (removal of the uterine body while leaving the cervix intact; also called "supracervical"). It is the most commonly performed gynecological surgical procedure. This surgery was performed by Dr. K. Madan at Max Hospital, New Delhi. Removal of the uterus renders the patient unable to bear children (as does removal of ovaries and fallopian tubes) and has surgical risks as well as long-term effects, so the surgery is normally recommended when other treatment options are not available. It is expected that the frequency of hysterectomies for non-malignant indications will fall as there are good alternatives in many cases. www.PreOp.com PreOp® Oncology Surgery Video ©2010 MedSelfEd, Inc. Your doctor has recommended that you have a hysterectomy. But what does that actually mean? Hysterectomy is the removal of the uterus - the organ that holds and protects the fetus during pregnancy. Hysterectomy often also involves the removal of other parts of the reproductive system, including the ovaries - where eggs are produced - the fallopian tubes which carry the eggs to the uterus and the cervix - or neck of the uterus. There are many different reasons why a doctor may recommend this kind of surgery. In many cases, disease or the growth of abnormal tissue will lead a doctor to recommend the removal of the uterus. In some cases, unusually heavy menstrual flow and the accompanying discomfort may make hysterectomy an important treatment option for patient and physician to consider. But no matter what the reason behind it, you should be aware that the removal of the uterus and other reproductive organs is a serious step and it can mean significant changes in your life. After having a hysterectomy, you will not be able to have children and if your ovaries are removed as part of the procedure, you may even need to take medication to replace hormones that your body once produced on its own. Florida "Uterus Controversy" Song Parody

New song parody from South Florida Raging Grannies, inspired by Florida's crazy "uterus controversy" that has made national news headlines; annoyed, amused and activated countless more women (and men) into opposing the corporate-loving, women-bashing Republican Party of FL; and made an instant celebrity/hero out of FL State Representative (D-Orlando) Scott Randolph, who dared utter the "U-word" while speaking on the House floor about the hypocrisy of the 18 anti-Choice bills that the GOP has advanced during this 2011 legislative session. If you want to sing "The Uterus Song at a demonstration, rally or hell, a birthday party near you, here are the sensational, stinging lyrics... The Uterus Song (Tune: "Bye-Bye Blackbird") Lyrics © by Vicki Ryder If you're a Republican, it's okay to screw everyone, Just don't say "uterus!" You can send our kids to war while watching your investments soar, But don't say "uterus!" Taking bribes used to be thought just awful; Now fat cats pay for your campaigns, that's lawful... You can take our rights away and torture folks, that's still okay. Just don't say... that word. You take funds from Planned Parenthood; you'd take all our rights if ya could, But don't say "uterus!" You think abortion is a sin, but what's that fetus growin' in? Shh! Don't say uterus! You can get away with bloody torture, Just don't say where you were when the stork brought ya. Name That Uterus!

It would appear that my uterus (along with those of every other American woman) have become a distraction for Congressional Republicans. Since jobs should be priority ONE, I have come up with I believe is a fair solution to their problem. I would like to incorporate my "business", so that it can be granted the same right of "personhood" as every other corporation in the United States. Since my uterus is actually a living entity, it only seems fair that I should be granted this right but I need your help. I need a clever name and "brand" for my uterus and would appreciate your submissions below. In answer to a few questions: I. It will be a Limited Liability Corporation 2. In accordance with the laws of my state, it will have to be Non-Profit. 3. I will not take credit for this idea, since Florida House Democrat Randolph Scott suggested such a thing for his wife to avoid abortion objections and he was summarily scolded for use of the word "uterus".
Tool Time: 'Uterus' A Dirty Word??

Apparently Republican lawmakers in Florida believe uterus is a dirty word and should not be mentioned on the State Capitol Floor! State Congressman Scott Randolph, a Democrat from Orlando said his wife should "incorporate her uterus" in an attempt to stop the GOP from passing more restrictive abortion laws, which threw everyone into frenzy.

www.PreOp.com Patient ED @ 617-379-1582 INFO On the day of your operation, you will be asked to put on a surgical gown. You may receive a sedative by mouth and an intravenous line may be put in. You will then be transferred to the operating table. In the operating room, a nurse will begin preparation by clipping or shaving the abdomen. The anesthesiologist will begin to administer anesthesia - most probably general anesthesia. Patient Education The surgeon will then apply an antiseptic solution to the skin... place a sterile drape around the operative site... After allowing a few minutes for the anesthetic to take effect... Your doctor will decide whether to make a vertical... or horizontal incision. An incision is made cutting through the skin and muscle of the abdomen. Next, the surgeon will inspect the general condition of the abdominal organs. Once the ovaries are exposed the uterus can then be separated from the bladder. Next, the fallopian tubes are tied off and cut. All arteries and veins connected to the uterus are tied off and cut as well. Now the uterus can be pulled upward. This stretches the vagina allowing the surgeon to cut the uterus free at the cervix. The surgeon closes the top of the vagina with stitches, and provides added support by attaching the ligaments that once held the uterus in place. The incision is then closed... and a drainage tube may be left inserted at the site. Finally, a sterile bandage is applied. Patient Education Company

Foods To Improve Blood Flow to Uterus

For more information visit: drspencepentland.com. At one time or another, women trying to conceive will understand the importance of optimal blood flow to the uterus and ovaries. Blood brings food and oxygen to your eggs, uterine lining, and developing embryo. Stress, lack of exercise, not enough rest, lack of joy, and certain foods all can inhibit blood flow to the uterus and ovaries. This will ultimately lead to periods with clotted blood. Clotted menstrual blood is nothing more than uterine lining that is necrotic, or dead, due to lack of food and oxygen supply. If a new embryo tries to implant into uterine lining that is not living, the chances of its survival are drastically reduced. So treatment to reduce and eliminate clots in menstrual blood is a very common approach to improving fertility and reducing chances of miscarriage. Here are a few Dietary principles you can implement when you are bleeding to help eliminate menstrual blood clots & increase your fertility; 1. avoid sour food when bleeding (yogurt, vinegar, pickles, grapefruit, currants, and green apples. 2. eat more blood nourishing foods when bleeding such as eggs, carrots, spinach, dates, & goji berries. 3. consume more blood invigorating foods when bleeding such as fish, ginger, cinnamon, and turmeric. Good luck creating your family.

The woman with two vaginas has 2 uterus Lost Her Virginity Twice

A WOMAN told this morning how a one-in-a-million medical condition led to her being born with TWO fully-formed vaginas. Hazel Jones, 27, said it means she has lost her virginity TWICE. But she added she was so at ease with her body that she goes to sex clubs with her husband. First, Hazel told ITV1's This Morning hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield she was 18 before being diagnosed with uterus didelphys. It occurs when a barrier between two tubes that form the uterus fails to break down during development, leaving two internal channels. Hazel, of High Wycombe, Bucks, did not realise she was different until her periods started at 14. She said: "I told friends. They looked even more confused than me." She went to hospital four years later to learn the truth. She added: "I thought it was amazing." Hazel told The Sun last night she and hubby Riki visited fetish clubs, explaining: "It shows how relaxed I am. "My quirky condition does not make me shy or hold me back. In fact, it's something I celebrate."

The Life Long Functions of the Uterus and Ovaries

The uterus is a hormone responsive reproductive sex organ that supports the bladder and the bowel, and it provides structural support to the pelvis. The ovaries produce important hormones all of a woman's life. The functions of the uterus and ovaries are essential to a woman's health and well being, physically, pschologically and sexually.
