READ MORE: This week, at the General Assembly of the UUA (GA), delegates from across the country will be gathering to realize our congregations' power to decide the policies and path for our religious movement. At GA, a request will be put before the assembled delegates to ask the Board of Trustees of the UUA to divest funds from companies that profit off of the occupation of Palestine and off of the oppression of Palestinian peoples. On June 18th 2010 the Northern Illinois Conference (NIC) of the United Methodist Church (UMC) voted to divest from the occupation in a similar way adding their name to the ever-growing movement for Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions in support of Palestine. Now it is the UU's turn to support "The goal of world community with peace, liberty, and justice for all" Through deeds like this, we can live out our UU principles.
