Well well well well well you lot... heeeeerre it is. You have been so wonderfully beautifully encouraging throughout the whole process. I know it was an long wait for this one but I didn't want to post up another vblog until I was actually finished. Really really finished! It was driving me mad not being able to announce I was done and I opted to just get on with it instead of talking about it! Sooo... this is it. This one and no.40 tie up the making of Ellipse in blog format. it's so great to look back on this from the beginning on vblog 1 when I started building the studio to now. I didn't actually post any musical clips up (don't kill me) on this vblog. We're so close now (relatively) and just want to save it now for you to hear on your headphones, in your car, on the sofa, snuggling up with a some nice beverage and/or lover or whatever it is you're doing when you first listen to it. I don't know what to say... I just want to stop typing now and get it out there for you to just watch. More blurb with next and FINAL "making of Ellipse" vblog !!!! arghh.... ps that box I'm playing at the start is a buddhamachine. fm3buddhamachine.com Filmed and edited by Justine Pearsall

So this is it! The final "Making of Ellipse" vblog! Justine... THANK YOU SO MUCH for these! It's so wonderful to have these to look back on. So great to see the progress from start to finish on screen over these 2 years. I don't know if you lot know this but they're all done in one take and though they only technically take 10-12 mins to film it takes a LOT longer than that to put them together from the preparation to the editing, to the uploading. Right now.... i'm completely frantic trying to get together the artwork for this wednesday, shooting a video on Thursady, rehearsals, photo shoots... I don't have a minute to myself! Making this album was the first time I've been in one place for more than 2 years since I was 12! Now it all changes. I've got to go to the states for another promo trip 5th July. I really found in the last few months I treasured that time. Knowing that once I'm done... my time is no longer my time. It's everyone's. It'll be a good couple of years now until it slows down and I can go jogging everyday round these lovely fields, or playing the piano here. I'm excited for a change in scenery and pace. Taking a big old breath though at the moment. It's a strange place I'm in. Finished musically but no time to really digest it being done. I couldn't have spent another day on it though to be honest. It was driving me completely mad! I so cannot wait for you to hear it. Maybe that's when it'll sink in that I'm finished for real... when you have it in your ...

hello... I just wrote a HUGE long blog to go with this but it's too youtube just told me it's too darned long... so will put as much as I can in here but go and have a look at my iblog at imogenheap.com or myspace.com/imogenheap for the rest.. Hello my lovelies... Thank you all for your birthday wishes left in all the various places. I've just had a very healthy fancy fruit salad for a very late breakfast then ate all the round toffee ones from a pack of chocolates someone gave me. I know this is cliche but BOY this year has flown by! What the?? Quite scary! I barely had time to get used to 30 and now I'm 31. That had better not keep happening or i'll be 105 before I know it! Thank goodness Justine's been filming as I've been going along so I can remember what I got up to in this blur. If you haven't watched the new vblog watch it now... warning... major plot spoiler after this full stop. That's right.. you probably guessed it. Little Miss Heap didn't make the finish line for her birthday this year (moves onto long rectangular chocolate coated toffee ones)...This album has taken me by surprise so many times. I really feel like I'm taking this huge strong dog out for an endless walk and it's running about it all directions...sniffing over there, chasing that rabbit, running into bushes and ponds . I've just had to go with it. Also like a dog.. you can't leave it for too long or it gets the hump with you. If I could just somehow shut everything else off for 6 months I could ...

Hello... a right old rambling of me trying to get across various things and actually looking back on it not playing you very much music er... anyway...I mostly re-visited Tidal and I absolutely love it now. Swoon sneak peak.. and whizzy BBD thing... I did a lot more than that.. but yeah. Got the beginnings of a new track down. It's gonna be all a cappella (apart from a few birds and possible fire cracklings). Listen to Mic Check for reference on type of vocal sounds... this is super rough, thrown down in a couple of hours. Now lyrics to write... couldn't sleep last night and so sat up laptop on duvet cover and typed some bits. Something about being in the moment. What it takes to get there. What sets it up. Pain, water, a kiss, longing... threading something together and hopefully get that down so I can play you more before long. Loving twitter... www.twitter.com/imogenheap If you're hungry for more updates from me then sign up for that. it's a micro version of this. Day to day sometimes hour to hour. Want some others to follow? I like these guy's music. Miloshmusic and DavidSugar (just started .. please encourage!) Also Calvin Harris and Stephen Fry super active and fun. Twitter related : Going to release those vocal files for whoever wants to put music to it too by 12th Feb as something for Twestival. Wooop! I, The Grim (pumpkin) Heaper bring you more ramblings. Among missed flights, no sleep and new gear breathes inspiration, a fresh energy and glass harmonicas. I'm loving the improv/all for charity idea. Gonna be interesting. Will find someone to create a program/way to collect data for people at the gigs to input their improv preferences. You could choose Instruments, key, tempo, scale.... somehow we'll get the data in on the night...average it out and see what kind of song say Edinburgh, Austin, Paris or Tokyo likes...Could be a nice little experiment? I may even get good at it (I wasn't very good at Pop!Tech but it was my first time!). Met some fab people and heard some great ideas. Still following up on trails. Will be collaborating hopefully with some other people too from it but will tell you about those later. For now... enjoy! I'll catch up with you in a couple of weeks xxx Love fluv! Yours, the grim Heaper. xxx ps Hope I'm not upsetting too many people by saying what I said about Obama... it's more that this man signifies real change and hope around the world. Ewo..big Heap 'ere, once again... with fresh daisy ramble-ons. All is well...I'm feeling energized! Not for long though coz I'm going for my 10km run this Sunday. 47 minutes is the goal. Yeeeeoooooo.....lots of bits. bit of earth, bit of a-ha! (take out the piano and one is happy again) bit of "the song that never was" for twestival (I'm going to the London one 12th Feb) twestival.com and an ickle bit of my bit in "Secret Friend" - the IAMX song I spent a couple of days on. I went quite a bit over the 10min thing on this one hence bird/glockenspiel/beep. I like them though :) "The song that never was".. Is not going to be on my album and because I specifically wrote it for this children's animated movie "little spirit", it probably wasn't going to have a life on any other album. Due to legal crap and crossed wires the song never ended up being in the movie. So... rather than it go to waste.. and just sit around, I thought, for a bit of fun some of you might like to throw some music at it so it lives. A bit like that game where you draw the head on the paper, fold it over and give it to the next person to draw the body. So I've drawn the head. You're turn! Logic, pro-tools and garageband sessions with vocals in or just the WAV files themselves will be up somewhere (waiting for address etc) 12th Jan. Keep an eye out on my twitter or my website/myspace. On a less fun note...what I actually wanted to say re: youtube videos with my music in, is that it's been a right nightmare trying to sort out why it's been happening coz it's NOTHING to do with me! Happy New Year my lovelies! Hope it was a good one. Often NY's eve can be a right let down. All that build up for one night. As long as there's lots of silly dancing involved, no hour's wait at the bar and a good friend or two I'm totally happy. I was totally happy. A nice snog (kiss for those non Brits) wouldn't have gone a miss but hey.. I really needed to unwind and I think I'm almost there. It was a totally mad week last week with a few all nighters in the studio and no sleep but really glad I did it. It's so great to be by the sea here in Devon and out of the basement for a few days. A few of us ran into the freezing water yesterday morning. Was so brilliant. When I got back on the beach and closer to where my trainers were...I saw a dog investigating my trainers and then it peed on them! Then as if that wasn't bad enough... another dog came up and did the same... and then...no lie... a third dog came up and weed on them too! Lovely! I've decided it's good luck. I've been listening back a bit to the album so far with friends, playing it to whoever i can collar on the odd car journey with gorgeous scenery to drift off in and late last night by the fire. It's as if the album's literally talking to me saying.. OK... I need less piano here, more mbira in this spot and my bass line's not loud enough. I'm happy as I am... I'm not as finished as you thought I was... some taking me by surprise. I'm feeling at the moment.. like First Train Home wants to open the album but ...

Helloooooooo.... here is the latest. Some inner workings from "A-ha!". the adventures in taming the digital click and gaining perspective 20k feet up coming into London from Berlin (what a GREAT place that is!). Feeling really creative and loving working in my studio. Finally getting into a flow now the studio's finally up and (mostly) running. Was up until 7am this morning recording 30 tracks of vocals for Tidal! (that'll be in the next blog). It was the first dawn i've experienced in there. Sure there'll be plenty more to come too :) So nice to have a kitchen to cook in and not be eating microwave meals (like I did for a year working on S4Y)! Love and all the good stuff...until next time. xxx
