CSAV Hawaii: Archival Kilauea Volcano Eruption

Amazing archival footage, late June 2011, of past eruptive activity of Kilauea volcano, inside Pu'u O'o crater. Includes cascades of lava, with rafts of solid crust being carried over the side. Please note that many areas within Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and in Kalapana are restricted, and not accessible to the public, because they are very dangerous. Footage was shot with a telephoto lens at a great distance. Visit our web site at www.hilo.hawaii.edu For eruption updates, visit the web site volcanoes.usgs.gov

Amazing volcanic eruption video!

Extreme videographer James Reynolds traveled to Japan again this September to film the ongoing activity at Sakurajima, one of Japan's most active volcanoes. Sakurajima lies less than 10km from the large city of Kagoshima, and has a history of violent, explosive eruptions. It is currently in a constant eruptive state, with 3 or 4 explosions per day. New dramatic footage of Chile Puyehue volcano eruption

The cloud of ash spewing from a volcano in Chile grounded more flights on Tuesday in South America, forcing Peru's president-elect to cross a river by boat and threatening to delay the start of the continent's football championship. The schedule of next month's Copa America could be altered if the ash cloud from Chile's Cordon Caulle volcano keeps grounding flights, Argentine Football Association President Julio Grondona said. Hawaii volcano eruption: Stunning aerial video of Kilauea lava rivers

Follow us on twitter.com and www.facebook.com Scientists say a new lava flow has broken out at Kilauea, a volcano in Hawaii that has been continuously erupting for nearly three decades. The lava flow is entirely within Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and currently poses no hazard to residents. The location was less than half a mile (from the Kamoamoa fissure that erupted in March. Volcanologist Janet Babb said it was the first time lava has broken out at the volcano since March, aside from some that spilled out at the Puu Oo crater last week. The lava is moving down Kilauea's south flank. Kilauea is one of the world's most active volcanoes. It has been constantly erupting since 2 January 1983.

Mega Disasters- Yellowstone Volcano Super Eruption full documentary

The Yellowstone Caldera is the volcanic caldera located in Yellowstone National Park in the United States, sometimes referred to as the Yellowstone Supervolcano. The caldera is located in the northwest corner of Wyoming, in which the vast majority of the park is contained. The major features of the caldera measure about 34 miles (55 km) by 45 miles (72 km). Last eruption 70000 years ago (magmatic) / 1350 BC ± 200 years (explosive hydrothermal) ongoing (nonexplosive hydrothermal). Yellowstone, lies over a hotspot where light, hot, molten mantle rock rises towards the surface. While the Yellowstone hotspot is now under the Yellowstone Plateau, it previously helped create the eastern Snake River Plain (to the west of Yellowstone) through a series of huge volcanic eruptions. Although the hotspot's apparent motion is to the east-northeast, the North American Plate is really moving west-southwest over the stationary hotspot in the Earth's mantle. Over the past 17 million years or so, this hotspot has generated a succession of violent eruptions and less violent floods of basaltic lava. Together these eruptions have helped create the eastern part of the Snake River Plain from a once-mountainous region. At least a dozen of these eruptions were so massive that they are classified as supereruptions. Volcanic eruptions sometimes empty their stores of magma so swiftly that they cause the overlying land to collapse into the emptied magma chamber, forming a geographic depression called ...

One of the world's most active volcanoes in Hawaii sent plumes of smoke and and shot lava up to 65 feet (19 metres) high into the air on Sunday. Scientists said a new vent had opened at the Pu'u O'o crater which caused lava to spray into the air. It occurred along the middle of Kilauea Volcano's east rift zone. Another video that I took of the volcanic eruption in Grimsvotn, Vatnajokull, Iceland. Plume of ash shoots 20 km in the air between 4 and 6 am May 22nd, 2011, causing air traffic jams. Location: 1 km from eruption. We drove up across the glacier on specially modified trucks for Icelandic highlands. What looks like clouds is a snow storm we got ourselves in. At this time we were getting some ash fall and flying lava rocks hitting us frequently. Thor E. Bachmann Taken with my Sony Ericsson XPERIA Arc

Mount Etna erupts again: Video of volcanic flames, lava fountains

Mount Etna volcano on the island of Sicily, southern Italy, started erupting again over the weekend, sending flames and sparks shooting 250 metres into the air, and flows of lava down its slopes. There were concerns that the ash could block flights out of nearby Catania airport, but the winds were blowing the ash away from the airport east towards the Ionian Sea and no flights had been cancelled or delayed. The volcanic activity started on Saturday morning and continued through the day and overnight into Sunday, according to the Italian Institute of Volcanology. This is the fourth and the biggest eruption in July, after six months of calm, with lava fountains as high as 500 metres. RT on Twitter: twitter.com RT on Facebook: www.facebook.com

Iceland's imposed a flight ban and closed its main airport after the country's most active volcano, Grimsvotn, erupted. It lies under the uninhabited Vatnajokull glacier in southeast Iceland and has been dormant for 7 years. A large plume of smoke and ash is stretching 20 km into the air. Iceland's Meteorological Office says that the eruption at the Grimsvotn volcano has been accompanied by a series of small earthquakes. Scientists have been expecting a new eruption and have said previously that this volcano's eruption will likely be small and should not lead to the air travel chaos caused in April 2010 by ash from the Eyjafjallajokul volcano. Iceland volcano eruption continues, more test flights through ash planned

EU Ministers are due to hold emergency talks on the air travel chaos caused by plumes of ash from a volcano in Iceland. The crisis is entering its fifth day with airspace remaining closed in over twenty countries. Desperate airlines are putting pressure on EU leaders to lift the flight ban, saying it's already cost them over a billion euros. Some companies have undertaken test flights into European air space to prove its safety. Experts have branded the safety measures 'unnecessary' and described the situation as 'air hysteria'.

Sicily's Mount Etna burst to life once again early on Thursday with a brief eruption that spewed lava and ash into the air and sent a long stream of lava down its slopes. Officials closed the airport in the nearby town of Catania as experts from the Institute of Vulcanology in Catania surveyed the volcano, both on foot and with helicopters. At dawn airport workers using special equipment tried to clear the runways of ash but winds continued to make the job difficult. The explosions could create problems for Giro D'Italia Bike race on Sunday as bikers complete the ninth leg from Messina to Etna.
