The sound of that downshift at 0:45 is reason enough to be NA. The car is an 8th Gen (06) Si with a stock K20 and open airbox. In a world where true driving enthusiasts are a dying breed, peaky and berserk NA engines like this are becoming scarce in favor of more torquey engines with consequently diluted powerbands. Despite what you may have heard, the only TRUE advantage of this torque-centric engine type is that it lets you go reasonably fast even if you have no idea how to properly extract the power of a manual car (such as with basic heel-toe, attention to RPM while cornering, and even just basic rev-matching when needed). Its easy to say that your engine has 5 liters (or whatever) and therefore doesn't NEED to be peaky. Sure, but you must be willing to make that statement knowing that a peaky 5 liter would make 500hp NA, completely stock. Still married to that low-end? Torquey NA engines sacrifice their full performance potential in order to be easier to drive. Period. Ergo, If you're the kind of person who goes on about how a car with good power still needs torque down low to be fast, you probably just suck at driving. That's all.

The DOHC i-VTEC system (one of the two cams shown). Found in the Honda/Acura K series, F20C and F22C1 engines, the i-VTEC system uses roller rockers, continuously variable intake cam timing (VTC, not shown) and three separate cam profiles for both the intake and exhaust valves of each cylinder. These features improve power and efficiency of the engine across its entire rpm range. Below 5800 rpm the offset and low lift of the valves aids in fuel atomization. This provides improved low end torque and fuel efficiency by creating a powerful swirl in the cylinder and by keeping the intake air charge at high velocity. Above 5800 rpm a high lift, long duration cam profile is engaged by the synchronizing pistons to provide greatly improved high rpm power and torque.
