Please read this. Color pictures of the Waffen SS are pretty rare if you ask me. It took me a pretty long time to find some so there are probably not many around. After the first three photo's you will see some colored photo's, I've also placed that in the video but colored means that they are colored post war. But never less, they still look very nice and they are original but as said before colored. I've placed an message (1:36) in the video where the pictures are original color again. It is possible that there are more recolered photo's in the video but most of them are original. Of course I'm not the all knowing man about that and I can not guarantee that they're all original and all SS. But I'm pretty sure most so not all of them are SS. This is most of my collection so I just want to share that with you guys. Next thing, the music. The reason that I added Alte Kamareden and the Königgrätzer march is this: I would like to make this video legal in all countries. Not all countries allow all music, for example a lot of Nazi music is banned in Germany and youtube will block that so that it's not visible in Germany. Combat footage. Die Deutsche Wochenschau. The Third Battle of Kharkov was the last major strategic German victory of World War II. Kharkov had originally been captured on October 25, 1941, but had fallen to the Soviets in February 1943, following the German defeat at the Battle of Stalingrad. Led by Field Marshal Erich von Manstein, the Germans counter-attacked and after destroying Soviet spearheads, retook the city in bitter street fighting. The II SS Panzer Korps, equipped with heavy Tiger tanks, played a significant role. It comprised the Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler and Das Reich divisions, which had been resting and refitting for a long period of time and were at full strength. Under the command of SS-Gruppenführer Paul Hausser, it checked the Soviet advance on Kharkov, despite odds of six to one, but, threatened with encirclement, Hausser withdrew against explicit orders from Hitler. The act so infuriated Hitler, he refused to award Hausser after the battle. The II SS Panzer Korps (now reinforced with the Totenkopf division) was attached to Manstein's counter-thrust, which destroyed the Soviet spearheads and saved Army Group South. The Leibstandarte division then retook Kharkov, for which Hitler renamed the central square "Leibstandarteplatz". Finnish volunteers in Waffen-SS Freiwilligen Bataillon der Waffen-SS There are two different versions of losses on this vid. The truth might be between them, i didnt find solid prove. During WW1 the Finns provided a battalion of volunteers to help the Germans. This early battalion, which was the basis of the Finnish Defense Force was designated as the Royal Prussian Jager-Battalion No. 27 and participated between 1915 and 1918. In March 1941, Finland agreed to a German request that a volunteer unit be formed within the Waffen-SS to give its troops modern military training techniques. The only stipulation by the Finnish Government was as follows: 1. No oath of loyalty to Adolph Hitler was to be sworn, oath to the Supreme Commander "Hitler" of the German Armed Forces was substituted. 2. Finns were to be deployed against the Soviet troops. 3. No Finnish volunteers would be required to serve more than 12 months (re-enlistment was left up to the person). 4. The Finnish Government reserved the right to withdraw the Finnish volunteers from the front after two years of service.

During the course of the war, the division progressed from a motorised infantry formation to a fully-fledged Panzer division. It saw action on the Eastern Front during World War II. After a brief period of rest and refit, the tattered Wiking was sent to assist in the defence of Kovel, currently threatened by strong Soviet forces. Gille led his men towards the town and began setting up a defensive perimeter. However, soon the Soviets had completed the encirclement of the city. The II./5. SS-Panzer-Regiment Wiking, newly equipped with Panther tanks, along with the III./SS-Panzergrenadier-Regiment Germania, newly equipped and up to strength, arrived at the front from Germany and immediately began forming a relief unit. The unit was formed under the command of SS-Obersturmführer Karl Nicolussi-Leck, commander of 8.Kompanie/II. Abt./5. SS-Panzer-Regiment Wiking. Nicolussi-Leck immediately launched an attack with five Panthers. Soon after beginning the attack, he received a radio message from the besieged commander to halt his attack and withdraw.
