James Kalm bikes across the Williamsburg Bridge to attend the "tribal reunion" that Larry Walczak's "Williamsburg 2000" initiated. Beginning in the late 1980's, rumblings were heard in Brooklyn that reverberated throughout the art world. Refugees fleeing the real estate crunch in Soho, the AIDS implosion of the East Village and the general crash of the art market began washing up on the shores of this North Brooklyn neighborhood. Although long a bastion for artist's studios, new galleries and performance venues began popping up. The scene established a Do It Yourself attitude with a media savvy that has provided a model for contemporary creative communities everywhere. There he worked closely with many artists including Bill Evans, James Hansen, and Mariah Maloney. Dan has had the opportunity to perform at Jacobs Pillow Dance Festival, ACDF, ADF, the Bates Dance Festival, the International Dance Festival as well as several venues at SUNY Brockport and in Rochester, New York. Upon moving to New York City, Dan began working with Coriolis Dance Inc. as well as Keith A Thompson's danceTactics Performance group. He joined Gallim Dance in 2008.
