'Anarchy' in America: Occupy Wall Street spreads nationwide

There's a heavy police presence on patrol in New York - as the 'Occupy Wall Street' movement against bank greed enters its fourth week, and gets a deeper foothold across the US The sentiment has already spread to the country's other major cities including Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles and Washington. New York's mayor has strongly-criticised the swelling unrest against the power of Wall Street, saying that if the banks fail more people will lose their jobs. The protests have already cost the city about two million dollars. And, while most brush off the demonstrators as anarchists, RT's Anastasia Churkina has discovered it's a far more organized set up. Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps Trailer

Douglas is back in his Oscar®-winning role as Gordon Gekko, who's iconic "Greed is good" mantra and daring corporate raids made him a rock star of financial titans. Emerging from a lengthy prison stint, Gekko finds himself on the outside of a world he once dominated. He now has to play catch-up and redefine himself in a different era. Gekko has to become relevant again. But a young, idealistic investment banker (LaBeouf) learns the hard way that Gekko is still a master manipulator -- and if there's one place where you can redefine yourself, one place where your relevance is a deal away, it's Wall Street. Josh Brolin, Carey Mulligan, Susan Sarandon, & Frank Langella co-star.

NYPD Cop Punches Protester at Occupy Wall Street, 10/14/11

Journalist and Reason contributor Michael Tracey is covering New York's Occupy Wall Street as it's happening. Above is footage he shot as the protesters marched through the street of Manhattan and had various stand-offs with the New York Police Department. Tracey himself reports being punched in the shoulder while filming. In the above video, around the 1.40 mark, a white-shirted NYPD officer decks a protester in a green shirt (how the incident started is unclear). Reason.tv's Meredith Bragg edited the video above from about 20 minutes of footage. MSNBC on NYPD Police Brutality during Occupy Wall Street Lawrence O'donnell with "The Last Word"

An excellent piece of main stream coverage on this past weekend, I'm sure this video wont be up long, but figured the folks looking at the vids on this channel would appreciate it. Thanks for an excellent piece Lawrence O'donnel Follow the live stream of the occupy wall street protests here: www.livestream.com This may seem insignificant to some, but this is where REAL reform starts. These protests are filled with individual who have a quarrel with how corrupt our government and federal bank have become. Many have their own message, many just know they are not happy and want to create a better society for themselves and their fellow Americans. The corruption of the FED is avoided by the main stream media, make your own assumptions as to why, but one of the goals of these protestors is to bring light to some of these facts. The FED has handed out over $16 Trillion to private banks and corporations in the past 4 years and NONE of this was addressed in the mainstream news nor was it approved of by the people. This is clearly a red flag!! Look at these reputable links below that PROVE my statements are true, and spread them around. Dont allow these protestors sacrifices to be in vain!! Occupy Wall Street: Outing the Ringers

twitter.com A few thoughts on Occupy Wall Street, I've been watching it and going down there for a while now but hadn't had a chance to speak on it. By the way when I say some news media people are "ringers," I don't necessarily mean that they deliberately obfuscate, or get orders from some shadowy figure to do so. I think they'll often just have a personal investment in the system and status quo that's being critiqued/threatened, so they'll naturally--without any need to conspire--have their perception skewed by an instinct to protect the status quo they're invested in. So though it's quite possibly not their intention to play the ringer, it's the function they wind up serving nonetheless. "Rainbow in the Dark" instrumental provided by Das Racist:

Occupy Wall Street

"I think they're really touching a nerve," Sen. Bernie Sanders said Tuesday of protests on Wall Street that have inspired demonstrations from Burlington, Vt., to Los Angeles. "The nerve is that the average American understands that as a result of the greed and the recklessness and the illegal behavior on Wall Street, these guys plunged us into the horrendous recession that we're in right now." Even Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke allowed that there was "excessive risk taking" by Wall Street when Sanders questioned him on Tuesday about the root causes of the recession and the concerns voiced by protesters. "They blame, with some justification, the financial sector with getting us into this mess," Bernanke told another member of the Joint Economic Committee. "I can't blame them," he added.

Senator Sanders
