Shooting one of my 7.62x39mm Romanian AK clones (WASR). (ETA: For the record, I have since stopped using the magazine as a grip...more control if you use the handguards). (ETA2: For all those asking about the refinished furniture= I cleaned/degreased the wood, sanded it, and then applied a couple coats of red tinted wood stain (I used Varathane "Cabernet"). I then topped it off with a few coats of shellac (Zinsser "Amber Shellac"), and what you see is how it came out. Used 000 steel wool between every coat as well. It's not that hard to do. Materials will only cost about $10. I just used old cut up t-shirts for rags.)

WASR-10 (AK-47) Refinished
Refinishing my WASR-10/63 and adding some upgrades: Hogue Finger Groove Grip, 1" butt pad, Tapco polymer mag, & NCSTAR sling. Wood was sanded down, then hit with one coat of Cabot Red Oak Stain and 6 coats of Minwax Wipe-On Satin Poly using medium steel wool and cheese cloth in between coats.

DIY Project: WASR refinished
Checking out the new finish I applied to the super crappy, third world cargo box, wooden furniture on my WASR 10. After sanding i applied a water sol. red wood dye, followed up with one coat of red oak stain. then finished it off with four coats of tung oil, and finally... a wax rubdown. Big thanks to everyone who put up their vids involving the whole process of their WASR refinnish.

Part 2: After letting the dye sit for over 24 hours, it's time to apply the stain. Start with one coat and keep comparing the color to the other pieces and add additional coats as needed to match the color of the other pieces.

Original video documenting the end result of polishing the bolt carrier of my AK47 variant, the WASR 10/63. As you may know the WASR isn't the most expensive or smoothest of the battle rifles, but a few mods can add vigor, class, and enhance the action. This is one of them. I used a routing tool and the whole catalog of bits available to take off the original black paint and smooth out the machine marks. I also had to repair a crack found on the carrier/piston connection as seen in an earlier vid. I had finished with Mothers Mag and Aluminum polish to achieve the luster that you see. Part 3: After the stain has had time to set, the tung oil can be applied. I put 4-6 coats of the oil on and will let it sit 48 hours before trying to put it back on the gun.

Test was done with 123 grain Golden Bear Hollow points, the last round hang up may have been due to the magazine more test will have to be done to figure it out. test gun was the Romanian WASR 10/63.

Converted WASR-10 GP63 AK-47 from low capacity to high capacity
Converted my WASR-10 GP63 AK-47 by century arms from low capacity single stack to high capacity double stack. Legally (it has more than enough US made parts, section 933r, etc).. Done on a 3 axis Milling machine not a dremel. It's nice to have the option to use 30 round mags or a 75 round drum now instead of the silly single stack 10 round mag it came with. Upgrading my Romanian WASR-10 AK47
A quick glance at some cosmetic upgrade to my WASR-10 AK47. As far as AK's go the WASR-10 AK47 is on the lower end of the spectrum as compared to the awesome Arsnel AK47's however I have found the WASR-10's, especially mine to be a rugged, dependable and reliable rock solid AK that is accurate to the point that it would surprise most. Anyway use what you have to the best it can be used and whenever possible upgrade!

Just a quick vidja on my new AK , yugo m70ab2. the build quality was very very nice. no contest between the WASR. The wasr1063 is however a pretty good firearm, IF, you know what to look for when buying one. i bought this gun offline, blind. it came in beautiful condition, very good YUGO quality that every AK lover dreams of.

An over view of my Romanian WASR 10/63 and my WASR 10/63 underfolder. Ive never had any problems with the funtioning of either of these 2 guns. I have had some failures to fire with them, but that was only when I was using steel cased ammo. I have never had any problems with feeding, ejecting, or firing when i used brass ammo. I forgot to mention, but all the serial numbers match up in both rifles.

my brand new wasr 10 AK 47. this thing rocks to shoot as you can see, it shoots smooth as hell to. almost no kick to it... it fires a 7.62x39 round. and takes a 30 round dubble stack mag. it can with two of them and the gun for about...580$ brand new... not to shaby a?
