A Day at Colonial Williamsburg

Highlights from filming at Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia. The film features the story of Virginia's historic triangle of Jamestown, Williamsburg and Yorktown. Together, these three towns form a historical continuity of Sir Raleigh's dream of a new English colony in the New World: Jamestown - the beginning of the colonies; Williamsburg - the apex of the colonial era; and Yorktown, the end of the colonial dream and birth of a new American nation. Where America Began DVD is available "on location" at Colonial Williamsburg and at finleyholiday.com. For information on Colonial Williamsburg, visit www.history.org.

Mormon Tabernacle Choir Flash Mob - Colonial Williamsburg

On June 21, 2011, the entire Mormon Tabernacle Choir performed a flash mob (starts at ~3:20) during a Revolutionary City program on Duke of Gloucester Street in Colonial Williamsburg's Historic Area. See footage building up to the flash mob and the performance itself. Then, spectators join the choir to sing "Yankee Doodle." Huzzah!

Sidestreet Reny on 1932 National Triolian doing an "original" tune (with a shout out to Mississippi Fred, Alvin Youngblood, Sleepy John, Furry Lewis and all the other versions of this goin' home theme I've heard over the years). Renard Collette) on vocals, National resonator and other 4, 6 and 12 stringed guitars, keys, bluesharp, lapsteel, production and songs, Lil' Bell (Maribel Landaetta) on drums and vocals and Bako Billy (Billy Fuller) on upright bass. Reny, Bell (together for 12 years) and Billy (added in 2003) blend bluesy/funky finger-style and slide guitar, original poignant songwriting and upright bass heavy grooves, to create an eclectic sound limited only by Reny's influences. Drawing mostly from pre-war blues, old school hip hop, roots and dancehall reggae, Sidestreet Reny and co. bring an eclectic yet familiar sound all their own. Reny's syncopated, soulful (singing or rapping) vocals and Bell's high harmonies have the power to take you all the way from a delta juke joint to a Brooklyn street corner before the first song is finished. Over the years Reny has traveled extensively and shared the stage with such acts as A Tribe Called Quest, Gang Starr, Xanax 25, Bass and Trouble, Paula Fuga ...

Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia

(Part 2 of the original and complete video on our travelogue) From Jefferson's Monticello at Charlottesville, Virginia, we drove to Colonial Williamsburg in 2.5 hours. Transported 300 years back in time, here we expected to experience the beginning, middle and end of Colonial America in a single day. The Historic Area of Colonial Williamsburg stretches over 301 acres, and includes 88 original 18th-century structures. Here hundreds of houses, shops and public buildings are reconstructed on their original foundations. Some buildings are open to the public, while others are private residences and administrative offices. Colonial Williamsburg is a combination of a historical landmark and a living history museum. But, unlike other living history museums, anyone can walk through the historic district of Williamsburg free of charge at any hour of the day. Charges apply only to those visitors who wish to enter the historic buildings to see arts and crafts demonstrations and to ride the shuttle bus. Our first stop was Bassett Hall, the Rockefeller's home, and to quote his biographer, "perhaps his favorite residence -- the one that most attracted him in his later years -- where he found the satisfaction of creation, of being a part of one of his own great dreams." A simple two-story 18th-century white frame farmhouse nestled on 585 acres of lawn, garden, and woodlands, Bassett Hall was built between 1753 and 1766. At the time of our visit, it was closed. The second stop was at the ...

Busch Gardens Williamsburg

www.coasterimage.com I had been wanting to visit Busch Gardens Williamsburg for a long time - like since before I really got into the whole roller coaster thing. It just never seemed to happen. Cut to spring of 2003 and me being sick of the cold and anticipating the warmer spring weather just around the corner for us in eastern Pennsylvania. What better way to get a jump on the weather and kick start spring (in my mind at least) than a trip a few hundred miles south to Busch Gardens? For opening day even! The park lived up to it's reputation delivering great atmosphere and food that was just as good. Park employees were friendly and spirited about starting the new season. All was right in Williamsburg that day. This video is an attempt to catch just a fraction of that for all to enjoy. The video features 4 of Busch's then 5 coasters (no Big Bad Wolf, but the now relocated Wild Maus is in there) and a few flats and water rides thrown in too. Also some footage from Das Festhaus and the 'fraulein' doing their thing. Busch Gardens has a good thing going, check out the video then get your butt to Virginia and see it firsthand! *** In 2006 the name of the park was changed to Busch Gardens Europe *** Check out http for other higher quality roller coaster & theme park videos, to download this video in high resolution or to get these videos on our free DVDs.

Visitors to Colonial Williamsburg Get a History Lesson in the Roots of US Democracy

From voaspecialenglish.com | http Colonial Williamsburg is a living history center in the state of Virginia. More than 1000 of its employees work as historical interpreters. They demonstrate how 18th century Americans lived. One of them is Bill Rose. BILL ROSE: "If you have a good interpreter, you don't have to change the facts of history. They can make those facts palatable and enjoyable to a modern audience and help draw those connections. And I think that's the best thing in the world." The actors talk, work and look as if they lived in colonial times. For most, re-enactment is their full-time job and career. Jim Sutphin is director of historic programs at Colonial Williamsburg. JIM SUTPHIN: "It's their job, but it's also their passion to come and dress up in funny clothes, in 18th century clothes and interpret history for our guests." Before they start acting like an 18th century American, the actors receive training. Hope Smith plays a slave woman. In the 1700s, half of the people in Williamsburg were slaves. HOPE SMITH: "Doing what I do puts a human face on what was going on. You're able to see the Revolutionary War through the eyes, you know, of the specific character that I am doing. You're able to connect, you know, what happened to an individual through their eyes so it's not just these big events." Colonial Williamsburg is home to several businesses where re-enactors demonstrate 18th century skills. Matthew Ocketzo has studied blacksmithing. MATTHEW OCKETZO ...

BUY OUR COMEDY ALBUM YOU PHUCKS: mde-tv.bandcamp.com JEW LIKE THIS: Facebook.com So here we are again folks, kicking a dead horsey, re-hashing the same shit over and over again, but really, it's your fault, because you Just Won't Fucking Learn. Imagine asking a 29-year-old woman what she does for a living, and her reply is: "I... used to do stand-up comedy... I, découpage things?" As always this ~*Real and Authentic Culture Blast*~ is brought to you by our 100% vegan sponsor, Benjamin Netanyahu™. Remember, buy buy buy, buy buy, die. Why did we ask them about divorce/fathers? No, you're not a 'loser' if your parents are divorced. The whole point of that question was to test a pet theory of mine--that privileged young people with their heads up their asses more-often-than-not have ~peachy~ home lives with lots of love and nurturing care. Divorce and butting heads with one's Daddy are the two most common forms of trauma for the socioeconomic set portrayed in this series, and trauma (in the absence of medication such as weed, alcohol, and Lexapro) leads to questioning, introspection, and eventually strength. (Sober) folks who've been knocked about by life tend to have better answers than folks who think life is a rose-smelling Six Flags joyride. I'm going to bed; hope this finishes uploading properly otherwise I might slit my wrists. Another MDE (Million Dollar Extreme) Mega-Hit Recession Buster.
