Pyotr Leshchenko - "The King of Russian Tango", owner of a breathtaking, soft baritone voice - was born on June 14, 1898 in a village Isaeva in Ukraine. His father was a clerk, mother - illiterate. During the First World War, his mother and stepfather moved to Kishinev (now part of Moldavia). As a result Leshchenko has been claimed as a national by Russia, Ukraine, Moldova and Romania. In his early childhood he sang in a church choir and learned how to play the guitar and the balalaika. After the war Pyotr worked at various restaurants performing small theatrical acts, mostly dancing. After the revolution, in Paris he took some ballet lessons to perform with his Latvian wife Zinaida, who was a dancer. Their act was a mixture of ballet, folklore dance and European tango, which was so popular it led to tours to Egypt, Persia, Turkey, Germany and Britain. It was at Riga, when he improvised a kind of a gypsy/tango singing to make up for the absence of his pregnant wife, that he discovered he could sing in front of an audience. Skon he started to perform regularily. In 1935 he was at the peak of his success. Though he still included old Russian romances, and even Soviet songs , like „Serdtse" („A Heart" ) - tango from the Stalinist movie production, which was originally sung by Leonid Utyosov - in a different version, as „Kak mnogo devushek horoshih" (How Many Goud Girls Are Around!"). ) In his repertoire, one of his favourites was a Polish composer Jerzy Petersburski, but he ...

This clip came from the AM/FM album that was released in the early 1970s. I first heard of Carlin as a little kid of about 6 back then when some teenagers that lived next door to me played one of his albums on a turntable they had in the garage. I remember going back home and repeating one of the comedy routines for my mom with all the new colorful words I had learned. I remember my mom going next door to have some words with the guys next door and then getting into big trouble (probably got a mouthful of soap) after that. A few days later I asked the guys next door if I could hear the record again and they of course replied "NO WAY!!!" About a decade later when I was older I found the George Carlin album "AM/FM" in a used record store and picked it up as I remembered it from my youth. This clip is actually a "clean" bit from the album which his early comedy really didn't have non stop profanity in it. George's stuff got angrier as he got older and better as well. This however should give folks not familiar with his earlier stuff an idea of the range of material he came up with

Robert Scott "Wino" Weinrich[1] (born September 28, 1961[2]) is a doom metal guitarist and vocalist. Active since 1976, when he started his first band War Horse, Weinrich is best known for being the frontman and guitarist of the doom metal bands The Obsessed and Saint Vitus. Weinrich is also a solo artist, having released Punctuated Equilibrium in 2009 and Adrift in 2010 Biography Weinrich's musical career started out at TS Wootton high school in Rockville, MD when he started his first band, War Horse. He went on to form The Obsessed in the late 70s. This version of The Obsessed would release a 7" entitled Sodden Jackal in 1983 on Invictus Records and have a track featured on Metal Blade Records's Metal Massacre VI. They also recorded an album entitled "Live at the Wax Museum" in 1982. In the mid 80s he disbanded The Obsessed and moved to California to sing for Saint Vitus. During this time Weinrich also anonymously played bass for The Mentors[3] and filled in on vocals for local doom band Lost Breed. In Vitus he covered vocal duties as well as additional guitar work on some tracks. Vitus put out three studio albums: Born Too Late (1987), Mournful Cries (1988) and V (1990), a live album (Live (1990)), and the Thirsty and Miserable EP (1987) with Weinrich. After Vitus signed to Hellhound Records, Hellhound put out The Obsessed (1990), a collection of archived Obsessed recordings. This prompted Weinrich to leave Vitus and reform The Obsessed (in between a stint with ...

Another great song by David who rode this to number 1 in 1982. This clip is from the Crook and Chase TV Show.

Maynard James Keenan from the fabulous rock bands Tool, A Perfect Circle, and Puscifer. He grows grapes and makes wine in Arizona. They said it couldn't be done, they said it shouldn't be done, but his wines are excellent and he has a great perspective on the business. Our guest taster is John Liu, CEO and founder of the glorious legalzoom.com and fooddigger.com. He also knows his stuff, while I am just a jerk.

A rare interview with Tom Waits. He discusses with an interviewer about his career outlook, Heartattack and Vine, and about the movie Paradise Alley. He then plays the song Annie's Back in Town. I have this in my collection labeled as "Canadian TV". I don't know if that was the name of the program this was taped from, or if that's just a generic name for the tape... Air Date: 11/19/80

If you've got some juice, bread, and a toilet, even in jail you can have a night cap. Luckily, I have slightly more modern facilities, so in this video, I'll teach you how to take some plain old juice and turn it into wine, using stuff you can get at the supermarket.
