CONVOLUTION - Ken's woodworking project

This is a collection of wood mechanisms driven by a common wood crank. The entire project is wood, no nails, screws, wires, etc. Each assembly is removable. The wood is primarily common pine with some black walnut. Total time required was about 4 months with the majority in the design phase. I was going to add more to the open sides and the interior but decided against it for two reasons; one - it would require more cranking power and two, it would make it difficult to see the existing interior mechanicals. Plus, it now leaves the door open for another possible project to explore more wood mechanisms. In reviewing the audio I mistakenly said there is wire in this thing but not so, it is all wood

UNIQUE WOODWORKING TOOL VIDEO

Unique Woodworking Tool Hi! Im Bob Schmidt with Home Remodel Workshop. I found yet another tool that not only would be great for the DYIs and the homeowners, but it will also be very useful for the professional. Lets get to work. Now, Ive already produced videos showing you how to use hand drive nails and also showing you how to use a nail gun. But theres one thing that both of these have in common. And what that is, is a nail set. This is a traditional nail set kit that you use to see in most carpenters carry around. Theres an alternative to this for those of you who are hammer challenged and for tight places for the experts where you have to get in the really tight places where its hard to swing your hammer. Now, what I have here is a spring actuated nail set and punch. Theres no hammer required while using this and its very easy to use in tight places. Now, youve drove this nail and as far as you dare, you know and another couple of whacks, youre going to starting to put this edge and this OG in jeopardy. Now is the time you get ahead and take your nail set, set it on there. Just take your time, just keep the little pressure towards the nail head and it drives it right down and right below the surface. Simply take your favorite spackle fill it in, ready to paint. A truly unique feature about this nail set unlike a conventional nail set. Although you may have room to get in here to drive a finish nail because its being adjacent to this corner. If you try to get a nail ...

Special Woodworking Projects #3

Another woodworking video in the continuing series. In this video: freeform bowls and wooden spheres, a ceiling lamp and two candle holders. Used special woods such as Golden chain (Laburnum), Burled Alder (Alnus), Birdeye sycamore and rootballs. A woodlovers dream to work with. No lathe of any kind is used, only my angle grinder and saburr tooth carbide grinding disks, enabling me to create any shape I want without restrictions. 90% of the stuff I make is finished with oils to bring out the natural beauty. The effects on Golden chain for example are breathtaking. Finishes used in these projects: Tung oil, Chestnut Lemon oil, gloss polyurethane, Shellac and Rustin Danish oil. Depending on the color I want, I first use ether Rustin Danish Oil or my own oil brew of 1/3 Tung oil+1/3 Lemon oil+1/3 Polyurethane as the color coat. Next two coats of Shellac to seal it, then again my oil brew, Danish oil, or 1/2 Polyurethane+1/2 Lemon oil as a topcoat. All projects are made at home, in a tiny shed (aka the doghouse..), Groningen, Netherlands.
