These do not have the hard physical limit of the triple joint support ring smacking the top plate like the prototypes (see older video) -- so they have a bit more throw than earlier videos. Rockford Fosgate called and asked me to watch their SoundLab sprinter van for a few days. It has 12 15" woofers, a bunch of RFT2500 bd amps as well as a bunch of RF T1000.4 amps. Not sure exactly whats in it. I told myself not to play with it but after checking on it i decided to see what "that button does". It started playing and i went ahead and did a few demo's with it. Also i was streaming live on my webcam on ustream.com/channel/meade916 and had around 400 people in the room with us! It was fun! The building was about to come down! tonite we put my new SMD woofers into the Tahoe. Took the old BTL's out. They are still in perfect condition after a year and a half! Time for the test drive of the new SMD's though! 6600 Watts on each one! THere are 2 Rockford Fosgate T2500.1bd amps on each woofer (one per coil) and all my amps benched between 3250 and 3400watts each (1ohm, 14.4v) . Woofers are dual .7's and i am @ 15.5vdc so you do the math -

I had Rockford Fosgate P1 8" woofers in my door but i needed some that could handle the amount of power i have available. These should pretty much do the trick! The Rockford Fosgate P2's are now Dual 4's ran in Parallel (2 ohm final) and occupy half of one of the T1000.4's. If you have a computer woofer turn it up! This video is almost all with the subs off till the end and it STILL KNOCKS!

I just got a new Sony DSC-TX7 1080 handheld camera and i figured what would be better then some good old fashion woofer porn! It seems to be a GREAT camera, especially for its size. I dropped a 16gig card in it and im good to go. Now for the numbers you see on the meter....please remember, 21hz - go play a 21hz test tone on your system and let me know what that sounds like before you tell me a 146.7 is a shitty number LOL! Its not a world record but its pretty damn violent at that low of a frequency. Most peoples systems will not even pick this note up let alone even register on the meter at this low of a frequency. Last week, i did much higher numbers but also up in the 37-47hz range (see the youtube vids i posted) I am tuned to 30hz so i am actually playing below tuning by doing this - the SMD subs are ROBUST and they can take it if you are careful. I am waiting on the other 2 woofers to get here, in the meantime i wanted to play with the new SMD/AA Subs that are just about ready for release. My test bench has a Rockford Fosgate 200 watt amp on it running off of a XSpower D680 Battery. I just wanted to see if i could get it moving. It moves pretty good considering the woofer can handle 20x the power i am putting on it with ease. Final RMS ratings to come. I built this subwoofer box awhile ago just for fun, 16 Coustic 5 1/4" woofers in a 4 cubic feet ported enclosure. All of them are powered by the sub channel of a Viper 1100.5 @ around 700 watts. Although the box is twice too big these woofers pounded out the cleanest, punchiest & hardest midbass that I've ever heard in a car, it also played very smoothly down to below 20Hz. Volume-wise these rivals two good high-excursion 10" woofers or so. I have sold the subwoofer but I can never forget the crazy loud 100~200Hz bass that this produced.

This is a box i used to build back in the early 90's. It is a compound Isobaric (push/pull) 6th order bandpass. The woofers back then used to work good in a box like this. It has been a while since i even thought of something like this so i figured i would try. Since it needs to be built IN to the car, i need to do all of my experimenting outside of the car and see how it sounds. After hearing it, i know I need to do further testing and tuning before i decide to make it permanent. It's a fun box to build but i don't think it is going to work out. I will make my decision tomorrow but more then likely i will be going to "plan B". I figured you guys would like to at least see my attempt. If you ask me, this could be the actual definition of "woofer pr0n" :D They are gettin it on for sure!
