This vid shows a great walk-the-line sequence of steel silhouettes at 200 yards from a Bushmaster XM-15 AR. Shooting standard load Wolf FMJ .223, the AR-15 is capable of fantastic accuracy in the 200-300 yard range. Nothing feels better than getting lead downrange and hitting some steel!!! This is also the first time we've been able to get dual camera angles on the silhouette range, showing not only the shot but the point of impact as well. At least we didn't hit the camera!

PFIDude and BuggetNuster re-open the Sledgehammer Drill with me after a long absence! The real purpose of the video is to support some upcoming series of vids I am planning. But what the heck, it shows some interesting data. Guns run by me here are a Bushmaster XM-15 and Sig P226 with discussed mods. The 18 rd MecGar magazine for the Sig P226 9mm I think had a round strip off it early, causing a loading jam (not the gun). The Bushy runs flawlessly even with Wolf ammo. Again DI guns generally will run this practice fodder with good success. Upgrades I make to the Sledge in 2011: only one paper bad guy now (left 35 yd target) and the far, barricade-shot targets are further now at 100 and 115 yds respectively (with either circle or mini torso plateheads on Evil Roy target stands from www.shopactiontarget.com). The incorporation of steel makes the course funner and faster, giving immediate feedback to the shooter. Scoring remains the same. Without any magnification, the 200 yd stage is a challenge with breathing elevated. I drop some critical points at that last stage and I put down a 239 sec run with 50 pts (maybe a 5 pt speed bonus as well, will check other runs). Sunflowers overrun this beautiful area and once again nature provides me with a theme to the shoot (technically Black Eyed Susans but close enough!). I've never seen this before out here and it's probably due to a record water year. It makes for a special and scenic backdrop in this remote area as I host Actiontarget.com in The Nutnfancy Project. We are collaborating on some "screaming targets" which I suggested to them in SHOT 2011. Also we get to test their already-existing electronic counter targets which feature sensors on a string of polymer mini-plates. The system works perfectly and provides a reviewable total of your shooting performance. I like it. Perhaps in future versions we can change how it displays the information (like a simple total for all shots fired as well) and make it into a MODULE for carry-along convenience. Jerrod bring girlfriend Amanda along for the shoot and Avrami is also helping out and monitoring the targets' performance in real world conditions. Of course in TNP there's always lots of product testing going on as well. Check out more running of the surprising Hi-Point 995TS carbine which endears itself (other than weight!). PART 1 of 2010 TNP ALL STARS SHOOT ACTUAL SERIES //////// Forget "domination" let's just stay safe and have a good time! Time to light it up in the desert with some TNP "All Stars." With a solid foundation of safety and weapons handling briefs, these TNPrs learned firsthand about the rigors of the Nutnfancy "Sledgehammer Drill" which PFIDude and myself have used to test gun systems, their shooters, get some stressed shooting practice, and have FUN. It was an all-day affair that went from early in the morning until 11 pm that night. Logistics and the work required to make it all happen was immense but worthwhile. These boys were safe gunslingers and turned in some respectable scores with Dr Z posting an impressive 39 points. PFIDude and myself launched into a burger burn about halfway through and gave the crew some time to rest. Fun talk around the lunch tent. But then we jumped right back into the RunNGun business that we're know for in TNP...right on into the night. Laughs were many and you may get a few with the Fizten TactiKilt "run" as he ambled up the course at 0.8 mph, fully loaded up. His lack of fitness is scary! From PhDs, to entrepreneurs, to Emergency Room doctors, they are representative of the TNP audience. Come on out with us as friends running the Nutnfancy "Sledgehammer Drill." Time to make another Nutnfancy memory and maybe knock out some training and gear testing at the same time! Tools for the course of fire were tactical LBE, handguns and tactical carbines... all personal choices of the participants. Out in the beautiful "Nebraska" desert, this was a super fun outing with TNPrs. After laying down a serious foundation of range safety, gun handling, and doing the laborious course setup, it was off to the races. In Part 1, Sootch00 leads out with a respectable SH run and you can come along for the ride. Later on we take time out for a "burger burn" and some lunch chat. This was about as many people we could handle in the SH; any more and there be more stress for me as people don't get a chance to shoot enough and just stand around waiting for their turn (and safely managing it all). The crew and I break out the AR-15s in the final part of this shoot, backed up by some good pistol testing on AT steel as well. Several more runs ensue. I have us close on that last electronic target to test its rapid fire capabilities and just to have some fun. When see Avarami do his IDF charge on the target and he even manages to hit it a few times in the process (great style, bad accuracy). It's fair to say the electronic targets I'm helping Actiontarget.com are a success. From this shoot alone several key improvements will be realized as well. I would like an attachable module to my MOLLE/LBE that gives LOUD and ongoing feedback as the shooter connects to those durable polymer targets. Even when we range out to 500 yards, a distance beyond Version 1 spec, they perform to perfection when hit with the Savage 10FP .308. With 2 MOA ball ammo that was a tough enough shot. I discover an unpleasant characteristic of the Savage Accu-Trigger and how it LOCKS UP when slightly touched from the side! Not good. But it is accurate and pleasant to shoot once past that. The expansive valley is scenic and provides a striking backdrop as I end another TNP shoot. I take you with me on the epic drive out through the sunflowers (and they did indeed scratch the truck up!). Shooting a stock Bushmaster XM15 E2S at 230 yards. Here I go again, a pistolero trying to shoot a rifle at a somewhat difficult target, at least for my old eyes. My son sat down to get a more stable zooming position; we were too lazy to drag out the tripod. Makes me look 7'8" instead of 6' 8" ! :-) Also, in the interest of full disclosure, I ditched a couple of runs where I just hit 40 or 50% of the time. I didn't want to post one that didn't equal my AK hits at this same target. An expert rifleman or trained marine with good vision would probably hit this 15" plate 90% - 100 % of the time, even with this short gun with stock iron sights. I find it easier with my A2 that has the 20" barrel and longer sight radius; I get a clearer focus on the front sight.

Storms off in the distance as the stiff wind carries the freshness through the flowers. This area is indeed special and we enjoy it. It was worth the long drive to get here. It was an ideal setting to host Actiontarget.com in The Nutnfancy Project with guests Jerrod, his girlfriend Amanda, and associate Avrami. Part 2 kicks off with an instructional run for Amanda. I equip her with a TNP Remington 597 and I makes sure she's safe and has fun as a new shooter. A "tactical course" I guess can be a be overwhelming...actually knowing that 300,00 people are watching you doesn't help either. Yeah I know a thing or two about that too. Anyways she's a great sport and provides some funny moments. Also she brings it together and starts throwing some pain down on steel as she gains proficiency. The Remington 597 runs near 100% with 30 rd Rem mags. The TNP Daewoo DP-51 and Glock 26 also acquit themselves well as well do the transitions against 20 yard steel targets. Man is that hostage swinger plate fun or what? I bring in a run with the awesome KelTec SU-16CA, coated in sick Multicam by www.missionspeccamo.com (use "nutnfancy" code to save money). It wears a 2x7 Redfield scope and impresses everyone that shoots it (even Avrami who doubts the advantage of scopes!). We may have missed a few hits with this gun being zeroed for Wolf ammo at 100 yds but overall it puts down solid, 100% reliable runs. Then prepare for hilarity as Avrami demonstrates some "inexplicable" reliability problems <b>...</b>

With basic tinkering skill you can do anything from installing rails, to flash hiders and the exotic stocks being offered by many manufacturers. I recently purchased some upgrades from my trusted online vendors to upgrade my Bushmaster XM15-E2S AR-15. The goal/intent of the upgrades were to transform my Bushmaster AR-15 from an iron sight, every day use shooter to a more specialized long range shooter. I also wanted the weapon to maintain some short range capability with the Ghost Ring on the ACOG as well as with the quick release of the ACOG. I could easily slap an Aimpoint Micro on there in about 15 seconds to give it the close in capability. If you are not sure what I mean by Ghost Ring or Ghost Sights, I give it a brief mention in the Easy AR-15 Upgrades video here.

Video snapshots of my loading process for 5.56mm rifle cartridges. My goal was to reload 10000 rounds of pre-sorted once fired brass and maintain Handloaded tollerances. Despite the reloading speed, almost all measured .000 inch bullet runout with .0025 - .003 inch neck tension. All necks were trimmed to the same length. This process has created better consistancy and quality than I have been able to buy commercially including XM-193.
