Zanzibar - Tanzania
Zanzibar is a semi-autonomous part of the United Republic of Tanzania, in East Africa. It comprises the Zanzibar Archipelago in the Indian Ocean, 2550 kilometres (1631 mi) off the coast of the mainland, and consists of numerous small islands and two large ones: Unguja (the main island, informally referred to as Zanzibar), and Pemba. Other nearby island countries and territories include Comoros and Mayotte to the south, Mauritius and Réunion to the far southeast, and the Seychelles Islands about 1500 km to the east. Zanzibar was once a separate state with a long trading history within the Arab world; it united with Tanganyika to form Tanzania in 1964 and still enjoys a high degree of autonomy within the union. The capital of Zanzibar, located on the island of Unguja, is Zanzibar City, and its historic center, known as Stone Town, is a World Heritage Site. Zanzibar's main industries are spices, raffia, and tourism. In particular, the islands produce cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon and pepper. For this reason, the islands, together with Tanzania's Mafia Island, are sometimes called the Spice Islands (a term also associated with the Maluku Islands in Indonesia). Zanzibar's ecology is of note for being the home of the endemic Zanzibar Red Colobus and the (possibly extinct) Zanzibar Leopard. ( source Wikipedia )

Scores drowned in Zanzibar ferry sinking
Almost 200 hundred people have died after a ferry capsized off the East African coast between Tanzania and Zanzibar. It is being described as the worst incident in Zanzibar's history, and there are fears the death toll could be much higher. Investigators are not ruling out technical problems, but witnesses have said that the vessel was overloaded. Al Jazeera's East Africa correspondent, Nazanine Moshiri, reports.

zanzibar was incredible. everything about it. after a quick 40 minute flight, we spent our first day in stone town, wandering through the endless narrow streets and alleys. we visited the old slave market (zanzibar was the last place in the world to end the slave trade) and the first anglican cathedral in east africa that replaced it. the next day we traveled to nungwi on the very northern tip of the island. the sand was white, the water clear and the sun hott. not much happened there for 3 days except a lot of laying on the beach. we went snorkling, i guess :). and ate a lot of chocolate cake that this random canadian woman sold.

Behind the Scenes of Lego Zanzibar
After nearly two years of building and thousands of dollars sunk into my project, it's finished. This is my latest video which details how I made my famous Lego model of Zanzibar from it's very first stage, to the now near completed form. I wanted to make this video so that everyone will get the facts straight. I originally sent the picture and video files that you'll see in this video to Bungie Studios where they incorporated them into the Halo 3 Legendary edition bonus disk. However, I have no idea how my model will be presented in the short section entitled, "Cortana's Chronicles." They might have placed my files out of chronological order...or whatever. So I made this video to set the facts straight, and to share with you the latest video of the model. I hope you'll enjoy it, and please be on the lookout for my up-coming stop-motion movie that I'm going to make with this model. Hopeflly it'll be done next year. Enjoy!
